Bio:
When Tommy first looked into his mothers kind, blue eyes, he felt loved. He nestled closer to her warmth, away from the cool wind. A few moments later, he tried to stand. The world was waiting for him to explore it's great mysteries. Tommy stood, and wobbled. His knees were weak, and his legs just getting used to his weight. He tumbled to the ground, but got right back up. Soon, he was running playfully around his mother after nursing. The sights were a great wonder to him, and he wanted to go on an adventure. Tommy stayed near his mother at first, afraid of the nearby Lakota village. His curiosity soon grew, and he wandered near the village with great interest. The humans were fascinating to Tommy. He wandered up to a broad shouldered human, and playfully nipped him. The human spun around and laughed suddenly. This human, Tommy found out, was called Little Creek. A month passed, and a Tommy shyly made no friends. The tribes foals seemed to not want him around. Tommy learned to play by himself, but often grew lonely. He wanted a friend badly, but he could not get himself to go near the other foals his age. Tommy admired his father greatly. He would often try to be like Sean, and would follow his father around. Tommy was a mama's boy, and loved getting attention from his mother. He had a strong bond with her, and felt protective over her, like she was him. On a pleasant day, two strange horses arrived in the village. Tommy went to investigate, instantly drawn to the large Buckskin stallion. He pranced up to the stallion and mare, admiring how proudly the Buckskin stood. Tommy found out the stallions name was Spirit when he asked his mother that very day. Her tone grew bitter when she spoke the mares name. Tommy decided he wanted to be like the Buckskin, and trotted around the village with his chest puffed out and his head held high. He would spend his time around Spirit, who seemed not to mind. A week passed and the two horses left the village. Tommy was saddened by this, for he looked up to Spirit. He soon pushed those thoughts away about the two horses, and tried to make a friend instead. Tommy found it easier to make friends with the older horses. They seemed to enjoy his company, and looked forward to his visits with them. One cold afternoon, Tommy wandered off too far into the woods. He grew frightened suddenly, not knowing where he was. A harsh thought struck him: was he...lost? Tommy decided to be brave like the Buckskin stallion. He stood up taller, and managed to wipe away his fearful look for a determined look. Slowly, he wandered back in the direction he came. Ever footfall from his hooves made the leaves under him crunch. Tommy suddenly felt as if he was not alone. He walked on, wishing he was back with his mama. The sky was growing dark as he took each step. The bitter wind made him shiver as he looked around. His ears pricked forward. He sped up slightly. Suddenly, a twig snapped behind Tommy, and he took off at a dead run. He ran blindly, not daring to look back. He did not know where he was going, until he slammed into an object. His eyes wide, Tommy looked up into the warm brown eyes of his father. Sean gently nudged him, and led him back to the village where his mother waited. She looked worried, and relief flooded her eyes as Tommy rushed to her. He buried his head in her neck, too tired to explain. Miranda gently nudged Tommy's face, glad he was safely back with her. Tommy knew he would never wander off again. He was glad finally to be back near his mama, and didn't care about the world around him as he nestled into the grass and drifted off to sleep.
More to come later.
