History
I was born in the Lakota village on a warm Summer night. I was also born blind in my left eye, and because of this, my mother was overly protective of me. She wanted me to be "The perfect little filly" she had always dreamed of. But my father thought different. He thought that I should be free to be what I like. And when he said this, I decided I wanted to be like some of the colts. I was often found playing with them around the village, causing trouble, or just hanging out. My mother thought that this was "Unlady-like," so she and my father were found arguing often enough.
Of course, they tried to keep away from me when they were arguing. But one night, I came home later than usual. My mother was angry with me, and blamed my father for me being so out of control. My father put on a defensive side, and they ended up in an argument. Right in front of my eyes.
I felt like this was all my fault. So that night, I ran away. I didn't want to cause any more problems in my family. I found myself alone in the middle of nowhere, and I was a bit leery about being out on my own for the first time in my life.
I realized that I wasn't only hungry creature in the area. Hungry predators lurked around the area at night, waiting for an easy meal. One day, while I was out grazing, a mountain lion saw me as some easy prey, and confronted me. I fought for my life, but unfortunately, It was not good enough. I collapsed on the ground, exhausted.
Then, this large stallion jumped out of the bushes. He killed the cougar with a well-aimed and skillful blow to the head. He turned his head to me.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine," I replied, getting to my hooves.
"I'm Jack. Who're you? I haven't seen you around here before," He said, studying me.
"Nightingale. Everybody calls me Gale, though," I said, lowering my head a bit.
"Nice to meet you, Gale. So, where you headed?"
"Nowhere in particular," I said, eyeing him carefully.
"How would you like to join a bachelor band? I mean, I know your a mare, but..." He paused. " I think we can make an exception."
I eagerly accepted. The Bachelor stallions welcomed me into their small band. I had finally found my place. But not knowing much about being free, I didn't know that bachelor bands broke up after a while. When this happened, I was unprepared. Jack offered to travel with me for a while, so we stayed together for a few months, before he, to, left me.
A few times, I ran into this buckskin stallion by the name of 'Spirit.' He offered me a place in his herd, but I felt that I didn't belong in a herd. So, I declined his offer.
To this day, I still hope to cross paths with the kind stallion Jack someday.
(Jack is open to make)
