Chayton was born in the Lakota village. He was a slightly troublesome colt, but he was likeable within the village. As he grew up, he befriended Rain and became one of Little Creek's horses. Little Creek and Chayton would ride upon the hills and mountains, viewing the landscape and the village below.

Chayton had always wondered who his father was, his mother had never mentioned him. One unfortunate day, Chayton's mother died giving birth to a filly, the filly died too. Chayton was very upset, he refused to do anything with anyone. But one day, he looked up to the sky and saw the northern Lights. He swore he saw his mother's face in the green aurora. She told him to be strong and carry on. Chayton listened to her and obeyed her.

The next day he moved on, riding upon the mountains and playing with Rain and Little Creek. But he always wanted to know who his father was...
