+Detailed Stuff+

Personality; Serious // Temperamental // Protective // Calm // Gentle & Kind

Serious- Gabbar is one of your more serious stallions. He doesn’t jump into a fight unless necessary to protect his herd or his members. He does not often laugh, keeping a more serious note to everything he does. He is often known as ‘The Horse of Rock’ because he doesn’t easily show a lot of emotion outside his herd, and even very little in his herd.

Temperamental- Even though he tries to keep himself in check, Gabbar has a bad temper. He doesn’t like to see other stallions ‘harassing’ his mares or foals, and will quickly put a stop to it.

Protective- Gabbar is very protective, not often letting one member of his herd out of his sight. He has eyes like an eagle, spotting everything that seems out of place, and thanks to this, foals almost never sneak away from his herd.

Calm- Gab is quite calm and collected. He doesn’t act crazy, but rather is a more mature stallion, acting more like an older, wiser stallion than his true age.

Gentle & Kind- Gabbar is quite gentle with his mares and foals. He often shows more kindness to them than any outsider would ever see the stallion show. It is true though, Gabbar has a heart of Gold when it comes to his herd.

Likes;

-His herd

-Running

-Protecting his herd

-Their canyon home

-Playful foals

-His mares

Dislikes;

-Bachelor stallions trying to steal his mares.

-Pirates (The men that captured them)

-Sells Markets

Fears;

-Having one of his herd members get hurt or killed

-A bachelor snatching one of his prize mares (He considers all his mares and fillies ‘prizes’)

-Being took away from his herd

Strengths;

-His speed

-His training from the Calvary

-His wits

Weaknesses;

-His herd

-Is way too attached to his herd

-His black coat, it just stands out to much

History; Before Birth // After Birth // Colt (2YO) times // Young Adult // Now!

Before Birth- In Egypt, there lived a beautiful gray Arabian mare by the name of Amal. Amal was one of the fastest mares in Egypt and was a prize to any that seen her. She was the mare of a rich horse breeder, and when he realized how fast his mare was, he decided to race her in the desert races. She did not disappoint her master, and won 4 races her first season. She loved to run and feel the wind in her mane, so racing was something she loved to do. After Amal became 9, her master decided she should be calmed down on racing and start to become a breeding mare. The second Amal’s master put her up for studs, Arabian breeders came from everywhere to breed their stallions with the swift mare, but Amal’s master wouldn’t just take any stud, for days he went over lots of stallions, until he came up on a Dark bay. He knew at once that his Amal and this stallion would make a beautiful foal. On striking a bargain with the Stallion’s owner, the two were bred. Amal doesn’t remember the stallion much after that, for he was took away from her after they bred.

After Birth- Gabbar was born in the middle of a horrible rain storm, one of the best in Egypt that year. He was a beautiful black foal, and almost from the second he could stand, he was running. He had defiantly inherited his mother’s speed and love to run. When Amal’s master came out to check on her after the storm, he was surprised to see the gray mare accompanied by a pure black male foal. When Gabbar’s master tried to come closer to the foal, Gabbar sprang away and from the start, Gabbar had the heart of a wild, instead of a tame horse. He loved to test his Master’s patience by running at him and then bolting away before his master could touch him and until Gabbar was about 1, he didn’t allow his Master to touch him.

Colt (2YO) times- When Gabbar reached the age of two, he was a frisky fellow, often running around the paddock, bucking and rearing. He longed to be able to run free and not have the fence to keep him inside the paddock. He often tried to escape, but never truly managed a full escape before his master caught him. Gabbar thought his life was torture, but the young colt didn’t truly understand how good his life was until it was took away from him… It was a hot day on the desert when his life changed. He didn’t know how it happened, except one second his village was peaceful as always, and then suddenly screams and yells filled the air as men that smelt weird attacked and set fire to the village homes. They grabbed the village children and stole horses from their paddocks. When one came to Gabbar’s paddock, he freaked out and tried to run from the man, but the man was skilled with skittish horses and managed to throw a rope over the Arabian’s neck. He remembered his mom racing at the man, trying to make him release the rope and set her son free, but her rescue turned out useless, as the man had swung himself onto Gabbar’s back, and startled, Gabbar bolted, easily leaving his mother in the paddock, screaming after him to come back. For a while, the man shoved Gabbar on and the scared horse only did as he was bid. Soon though, they caught up with a group of the men. They had tons of children and horses, and a few, Gabbar recognized from his own village. He remember panicking and trying to rid himself of the man on his back, and somehow managed to throw the man to the ground, but before the young black Arabian could full escape, more men had thrown ropes around him, and after a several minute struggle, Gabbar had subdued to them. After that, the strange men had savagely shoved the horses and children along, until they came to the edge of the desert. What Gabbar seen, he will never forget. A pond bigger than he had ever seen before spread across before him, its massive ripples grumping hungrily at the shore. He had than noticed the children and horses were being shoved onto a huge thing Gabbar had no name for. It was made of wood, but looked as big as a tiny island, and seemed to float on the endless blue water. When it was his turn to get on, he fought, hating the weird feeling and the smell it gave off, but he was shoved onboard and led down into a hole in the belly of the thing with the children and horses. He was forced to keep as low as he could in the tight space, for it was horribly cramped. Somehow or another, Gabbar found himself beside a small human child, a boy. It was with this boy that he would spend the horrible days on the endless water…

Days went by, and Gabbar remembered horses and children getting sick. The Pirates, as he had finally matched them up with thieves from the water that his mother would tell him about, would come down to check on the prisoners, and if they seen a sick horse or child, they would drag them off, and Gabbar never seen them again, but he always remembered a distant ‘splash’ that seemed unnatural. Slowly the numbers died down, but the conditions were still the same, as humans and horses were forced to live off the small food they got and never got to leave their prison in the belly of the wooden island. More than once, Gabbar found himself shielding the little boy when the men came to do their daily rounds, and it was probably because of Gabbar that the boy survived the harsh journey.

After weeks of torture in the prison, they finally came to land, but not a land Gabbar was familiar with. He and the boy, along with the other children and horses that survived, where pulled onto a land of green. A land that Gabbar had never seen before. It looked like a nightmare to him and he found himself quickly missing the sand dooms of the desert. Yet again they were pulled along, and many more numbers died along the way. By the time they reached their destination, there were only a handful of children left and 5 horses. They found themselves in the middle of a market, the children being sold as slaves and the horses as whatever the buyer pleased. Gabbar quickly came to hate the place and after a couple days, made a plan to get him and the boy out free. His plan was to go into action the next day, and no time was better, for that day, a greasy, sour smelling man had his eye on the boy that Gabbar had grown so attached to… Before long, the man came over and asked to buy the boy, the seller happily took the money and the man went to take Gabbar’s new friend away. The stallion had had enough by this point and reared up, hitting the sour smelling man over the head with a hoof. He then grabbed the boy by the back of the shirt, and swinging him onto his back, took off. He remembered the screams of the men that had brought them here and the yells of shocked sellers and buyers from other places, but even this noise didn’t stop the Arabian, for he pushed on and quickly found himself leaving the market behind him.

For days he traveled with the boy, only stopping long enough for them both to fill their bellies, before continuing on… They found themselves in a land they didn’t know, and found winter quickly creeping up on them. Both had grown up in the desert and when the first snow fell, they were shocked beyond belief. They were so sure it was some sort of thing that could hurt them, but after a bit of horrible fear, they found out it was harmless. After that, the two struggled along in the freezing winter, until one day, Gabbar just collapsed, unable to continue. It was there they were sure they were going to die, but lucky for them, faith was on their side, for some Calvary men found them, and getting help, took the two back to the fort, where they were nursed back to health. After that, the boy was questioned and confirmed both him and Gabbar had ben forcefully took from their home and brought to this new world. The Calvary men took pity on them and allowed the boy to stay and train with them, along with training Gabbar as a Calvary War horse.

Young Adult- After a couple years in the Calvary ranks, Gabbar and his new master, Nickel, the boy from the boat, named by a Calvary cook, found themselves forgetting about the horrid events that had brought them here. Life was good for both of them and Nickel had managed to earn his place as a stable boy, loving to spend time with the horses. He loved the different breeds, having only grown up with pure bred Arabians in their village, but Gabbar was his favorite. He loved the stallion and constantly thanked him for saving his life that trusty day at the Market. Everything looked like it was the best as it could be. That was, until HE showed up! That buckskin mustang! He seemed to think he was the best and no one was going to train him, let alone ride him, or at least that is how Gabbar seen him. The stallion seemed to show off to the other horses when he was put in the paddock to be broken and many found it funny, but not Gabbar. The stallion was more than amused when the showoff was punished by The Colonel. From the start, it was obvious that Gabbar disliked Spirit, and his hate only grew when Spirit did his big escape stunt. Gabbar watched in slight horror as The Colonel aimed a gun at the buckskin. Gabbar had thought the man less violent that that, but after all, the mustang had purposely humiliated him. Then it had happened so fast, the Indian boy getting lose and Spirit and him releasing the horses in the barns. In the stampede for the horses to escape, Gabbar found himself swept away with the escapies… He was steered away from the fort by a group of horses, and when they finally slowed and broke up, Gabbar found himself in a land he didn’t know. He tried to find his way back to the fort and Nickel, but it was impossible. After a month, he gave up and decided to just accept his new life…

Now! – Ever sense that day, Gabbar has hated Spirit and Little Creek, well, any indian in that matter. He somehow managed to find a beautiful canyon where he found some mares and decided to start a herd. He now runs his herd and protects them with his life, promising every mare and foal in his herd that he will not let any harm come to them, ever.

Exactly! I read war horses were groomed and checked up on two times a day, so they had pretty good lives. Yes, three breaking in can be a horror, but once past that, life can be good.

Awesome, thank you ^^

Indeed. In fact, in the US cavalry tame horses probably had even better treatment than most other domestic horses, since the livelihood and indeed the lives of the soldiers depended on their horses.

Why thank you! And yes, I have read several character pages where they are happy to leave and be free, and than I read up on how good a tame horse's life can be some times and I decided to make a character that is opposite of all the ones who wanted freedom.

As for brown beauty and him being friends- Sure! I would love that! I'll add her to his friends list!

Another great character Starship ^^ I love the fact that you made him reluctant to leave the Cavalry; most people make their characters eager to leave and be free. It's a refreshing change ^^

I wonder if my ex-cavalry mare Brown Beauty could be his friend while they were in the cavalry together?
