Hamlet was strong whereas Ophelia wasn't. Hamlet didn't trust the Lakota people even though they took care of both foal. The Lakota instantly knew the two foals were siblings and tied a rope around each of the foal's necks and then connected the rope together so they couldn't be apart. Ophelia and Hamlet grew up together in the village. The two met Spirit and Rain when they were in the Lakota village. Ophelia tried to make friends with them but Hamlet didn't trust them and being the stronger horse, he dragged Ophelia away. Ophelia also met Mystique but Hamlet dragged Ophelia away again because he was 'overprotective'. When they were old enough the pair ran away from the Lakota village because Hamlet couldn't take it any longer. Ophelia was very sensible but Hamlet was a bit of a control freak. They then began to travel together in search of a herd.
