History
Cattle Chaser doesn't really talk about his early life, but it is known that his mother was a kind pinto mare that was owned by a small farming family that lived in the countryside. Cattle's father was sold off before Cattle was even born, so Cattle was never given the chance to meet his father, but he does understand that his father was a rebellious horse that did not enjoy being ridden or owned by humans.
When he was entering puberty, Cattle's owner decided it was time to teach Cattle to plow. Cattle hated it from day one, and the only reason why he stayed was because his mother was getting expected to breed with another horse and the foal would be sold off. Cattle did not wish for his mother to be lonely during a time like that, so he stayed with her and fought the urge to escape from his master.
Not soon after when the foal was born, it was sold off and Sweet Honeydew was heartbroken to see her young foal go. Cattle did his best to comfort his mother, but she was old and tired. She refused to eat very much, and eventually died. Cattle, now thoroughly upset, decided to leave the farmer the night after his mother died.
He spent quite a long time alone in the wild. No herd would take him in because of the threat of Cattle taking the leadership, so Cattle often spent his days alone and adventuring. One time he was looking around in a box canyon when he fell fifteen feet and broke his leg. He spent days crying out for help, because he couldn't get on his legs. Thankfully, someone came to his aid.
It was an older grey appaloosa named Salty Mist who helped Cattle regain health. Cattle then pestered Salt to stay with him, and the two became friends. Despite how much Cattle annoys Salt on a daily basis, the two are best friends.
Other
As far as mares/mates and a herd go; I am working on something of my own with Cattle and Salt, chances are I will be doing an open project involving mares and herds for them
Original pictures are Dreamwork's.
Cattle and Salt try the "Herd life" with Esperanza with Spirit's absence, when Spirit returns, he allows them to stay seeing how Salt and Cattle are both geldings. Salt was the lead stallion in the Cimmaron herd during the time Spirit was gone.
