History:
Anise was born to two of the finest horses in the US Cavalry. The breeding was approved by the Colonel himself, in the hopes of producing another mount for the cavalry as valuable as Liquorice and Khan. And he was not disappointed. From the moment she was born Anise showed promise. Her conformation was exquisite, and she displayed a courageous, confident personality by wobbling straight up to the attending cavalry veterinarian, rather than shyly hiding behind her mother. And as the days passed she only continued to grow in strength and confidence.
Naming the horses was always a serious issue in the US Cavalry, and the latest filly was no exception. But it was not difficult to choose the right name for her: almost from the moment she was born it was agreed that she should be called Anise. Not only did it tie into her mother’s name, but she was also a tough little creature with a sweet nature. Nicknamed ‘Annie’ around the stables, the dark filly quickly became a favourite with many of the officers.
When she was old enough Anise was broken to be a cavalry mount. Already willing and obedient, she'd learnt to be led around in a headcollar as a foal, so her training progressed quickly. She was branded and put straight to work as a riding horse.
