She has a remarkably sweet and caring disposition, but will often put herself in harm’s way without even realizing it and need to be rescued. Her heart is remarkable as is her wisdom at such a young age. She is never pushy about her ideals- but always sticks to them and family is one of her biggest values. She would do anything for a friend, and though she may seem simple minded at times- she knows where her heart lies.
History:
As a fawn, she grew up alongside Spirit’s herd and would often see horses form the herd. Her deer herd lived in the adjacent forests to Spirit’s grazing lands. When the drought caused Spirit’s herd to move on to better foraging further south, Delphine’s family herd followed them a few days later. There was a terrible night where man came to the forest and weather accidently or purposefully- set it ablaze. Herds of all kinds scattered in panic- their oasis in chaos. Delphine got lost in the smoke of the forest- but tried to keep on following her mother’s voice. She lost her mother’s voice in the smoke, Delphine kept calling for her mother until smoke inhalation and exhaustion caused her to lose consciousness.
The next day she awoke in the burned forest and ran into Drexel. Drexel seemed to have given up on it all, but Delphine convinced him to keep going. Drexel rejoined Vida with Delphine. Vida explained that her father’s herd would go where grass could be found and that Delphine’s herd couldn’t be far behind. Delphine met Cliff the next day- who shares the same fate. Together they search for home.
Relation to Spirit: Vida is Spirit and Rain’s daughter- Delphine is part of her make-shift family for now. The opening sequence of the movie shows Delphine’s herd in the woods.
