Getting To Know the Character

Personality: Cold, cruel, and heartless. Ziraya was once a relatively kind cougar, but all that changed when she witnessed Spirit murder her mother. Now, Zira shows no mercy to any horse....unless they strike a deal with her that she benefits from.

Bio: Born in the Cimarron with her siblings, Ziraya was content with her life. She had no worries and spent her kitten days playing with her siblings. However, her happiness wasn't meant to last, and a rattlesnake killed her brothers while their mother was out hunting. When she returned, she found Zira crying over her brothers' bodies.

When Zira was old enough to learn to hunt, disaster struck once again. As Zira watched her mother try to take down Spirit, Zira could only watch in horror as her mother was killed by the buckskin stallion. Zira cried over her mother's body for days before devising a plan for revenge against the stallion. If Zira were to live the rest of her life without a mother, so would Spirit.

Ziraya vows to kill Esperanza with her own teeth and claws-even if she's killed doing so.

Relationships

Spirit: Ziraya hates the stallion for killing her mother. She spits in fury whenever she hears his name.

Esperanza: A pawn in Zira's game of revenge. Ziraya hates the palamino for giving birth to Spirit, and because of this she ultimately blames Esperanza for her mother's death.

The Cougar: Ziraya's mother. Zira misses her mother with all of her heart, and would give anything to have her back.

Zenai and Zenara: Zira's brothers who were killed by a rattlesnake when they were still kittens. Zira still has nightmares about their deaths, and sometimes has hallucinations that they're still alive.

Renegade: One of very few horses Ziraya enjoys the company of. She met the stallion on a raid against the humans, and later teamed up with Renegade to take revenge against Spirit.
