History
Dreamchaser was never really wanted by any horse. He grew up in the Starchaser Herd. His brother and sister, Whiteline and Defender, played together constantly. But Dreamchaser had no one to play with. His parents loved him, but they were the leaders of the herd, so they didn't have much time to play with him.
Dreamchaser could never understand why no one wanted to play with him. He asked his mother about it once, and she told him that he was just one of those foals that hid at the back of the group too much and didn't open up to others and make friends. But that's what Dreamchaser wanted. More than anything, he wanted a friend. So when the first big snow came, Dreamchaser decided he would show the other foals something they couldn't do. he slid down a very steep snowy hill, and tried to jump across a wide chasm. But he didn't make it. He ended up falling into a large stream at the bottom of the chasm. He whinnied for help, and soon enough, his mother found him and yanked him out of the icy water. Dreamchaser shivered, and told himself that he would never do something so dangerous again.
One winter, when Dreamchaser was a full grown horse, there was a famine. the herd wasn't getting enough food to eat, and soon, they would have to move. Dreamchaser told a mare named Crimson to go steal some food from a rival herd called the Darkwing Herd, or the Great Horses. Crimson went, but the Great Horses followed her and raided the Starchaser Herd. Dreamchaser felt horrible, so he ran away.
Dreamchaser began to live on his own. He thought back to the days when he was a foal. He thought he had been lonely then, but this was real loneliness. He had no one by his side for comfort and no one to help him survive. Dreamchaser wandered aimlessly for weeks before he ran into a herd of horses. Dreamchaser galloped toward them, but the leaders wouldn't let him join. they already had enough horses in their herd and they were going through famine. but Dreamchaser told them that he was lonely and he needed company. Reluctantly, the leaders let him join the herd.
When Dreamchaser joined the herd, he fell in love with a mare named Doe. Doe didn't fall for him at first, but soon, she began to gain a slight crush on him. Dreamchaser was thrilled. He finally had a friend, and she was also his first crusher! Dreamchaser asked Doe if she would like to be mates with him, but she said she didn't want a mate yet. Dreamchaser felt a little hurt at this, but he didn't stop loving Doe.
Finally, the day came that the herd leaders had to pick and choose which horses would leave the herd because of the famine. Dreamchaser was the first one to go, because he was just considered an excess horse. It broke his heart to leave Doe, but he had no other choice. Dreamchaser was on his own again. But soon, he ran into a pretty mare named Chocolottan. Chocolottan was as lonely as Dreamchaser was. No one had ever loved her because of her drab colors, but Dreamchaser told her that her brown coat shone like copper in the sun. Chocolottan was glad that she had someone who finally liked her for who she really was. And Dreamchaser was happy that he had another crusher. but then, a storm separated Chocolottan and Dreamchaser. Dreamchaser was very sad. He had lost a friend for the second time in his life. But he didn't know what was to come. One day, Dreamchaser accidentally alerted a Great Horse patrol. They chased him out of the area. Dreamchaser ran for his life, but ended up falling down a chasm and into a stream, like he had done when he was a foal. But a mare named Bittersweet found him and helped him escape from the chasm. The two horses traveled together until they reached a great valley plentiful with food and water. Dreamchaser and Bittersweet joined the herd, which was called the Skydreamer Herd.
