Trivia

Story from the book - ''Spirit of the West 1: Bonita''

Bonita is a small, white mare, and Rain's grandmother. She was born and raised tame, and loved her rider very much. One day they met an over-packed donkey, and her rider offered to buy the donkey. The owners turned her down. One night the ongoing war struck the town and Bonita was set free by her rider - only to get caught again by other men. They used her in a battle, but left her when they went on foot. She soon saw the donkey, Paco, get itself free, and followed him. The two travelled together and met a stallion named Raphael. The three became a band and travelled on.

Winter struck. While traveling, they heard a rumble. Paco and Bonita were in the lead and Raphael was behind. Once the rumbling stopped, Bonita saw that it had been snow, but the stallion was gone. It was around this time Bonita started to get hungrier than she had ever been even when grazing. Her belly felt strange as if it wanted to be warm. The pair soon saw wild horses, and Bonita saw some foals. This was when she realized that she was carrying a foal of her own. They were welcomed by the heard's stallion, Shadow, but not by the mares until late, when a foal fell in a flash flood and Bonita saved it. This welcomed her into the herd, and it wasn't long until Bonita gave birth to her and Raphael's foal, Sierra."
