History
Tlingit was born into a herd called the Silver Water Herd. Her youth was full of fun and enjoyment and even without any siblings, she was never bored. Her one companion was nature, and that was all she needed.
However, one day, things changed. Tlingit was playing in the river near her home when a big two-year-old colt trotted up to her. As usual, Tlingit looked up at the colt and nickered gently. But the colt lunged forward, and nipped her on the flank, knocking her over in the water.
"Get out of here!" the colt whinnied. "I want to be alone!"
Tlingit ran. She ran until the colt and the river were out of sight. She finally halted in a dense grove of willow trees. As she was resting, an appaloosa filly walked into the grove, nickering eagerly. Tlingit jerked her head up, and her eyes widened in fear.
"Don't hurt me," Tlingit said.
"I won't hurt you," the filly replied. "I saw that colt by the river lunge at you and scare you away. Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," Tlingit told her. "Who are you, anyway?"
"I'm Saber," the filly said, nickering gently. "Who are you?"
"Tlingit," Tlingit replied.
From that day on, Tlingit and Saber were great friends. They did everything together. Tlingit finally had a friend.
One day, when Tlingit was four years old, Saber returned to the herd with strange markings on her coat. Feathers were woven into her tail and mane. Tlingit looked at her suspiciously, but to her relief, Saber told her that she had been captured by a pair of Lakota Indians and taken to a strange camp. Then the Lakotas had marked her with paintings and wove feathers into her mane and tail. After a short time, Saber had escaped from the Lakota camp.
Soon, Saber's markings began to fade and the feathers in her mane and tail were blown loose. Tlingit's loyalty to her herd disappeared. Silver Falcon and Waxwing, the leaders of the Silver Water Herd, had decided to move the herd because the grass was running low. Most of the horses agreed. But Tlingit didn't agree. Saber had been driven out of the herd because she had accidentally hurt a foal. As the herd moved to a different location, Saber would be forced to stay behind, and Tlingit didn't want to leave her. So, she disagreed with the rest of the herd and soon decided to leave. Saber went with her, but she galloped away in fright when the Lakota camp came into sight. The Lakotas captured Tlingit and painted strange markings on her coat. Then they put her in a small corral. As Tlingit was confined, a paint mare named Rain became her friend. But Tlingit soon escaped and forgot about Rain.
When Tlingit was nine, she joined a herd called the Skydreamer Herd. A little while after she joined, a herd of horses called the Great Horses raided the Skydreamer Herd. Tlingit and the herd fled to a forest outside of the valley and lived there for a few months. After the herd returned to the valley, an appaloosa stallion named Starlight began to gain a crush on Tlingit. Tlingit began to fall for him, too. But after they started falling for each other, another herd raided the Skydreamer Herd. This one was called the Windchaser Herd. Tlingit and Starlight banded together with three other horses, named Wildfire, Skydance, and Rifle. the five of them helped each othersurvive, but soon, they began to grow thin. Starlight left the group because he was the healthiest. Tlingit was sad to see him go. But soon enough, he found her again.
Relation to Spirit
Tlingit was friends with Rain when she was a captive of the Lakota tribe.
