Biography-

Izabella was born alongside her twin brother in a Native American tribe: the Lakota tribe. Her parents loved the two of them very much and brought them up in a nurturing environment. Izabella was more partial to her father than her mother; he was strong and silent and seemingly resented being captive, which made the young filly wonder if he’d been free once. She figured that he had been; the way he looked out to the golden plains from the fences he was trapped in. Izabella tried to see the world from his eyes, which was hard considering she loved the Lakota and their horses, but ended up yearning for some taste of the wild herself. She never told this to her mother, brother, or any other horse in the tribe besides her father, who gave a slight smile.

When she was weaned, she was given to a Lakota elder who already had a few horses. This elder was very kind to her horses and often gave them free reign around the tribe’s land; trusting them to come back, which they always did. These horses were much older than her, most were adults, so they took care of her like a little sister. One of these horses, an old gray female, would often take Izabella on treks around the territory which gave the filly a sense of the wild. These treks also offered ne experiences for Izabella; she saw her first flowers on these walks, and took her first dip in a pond.

Izabella grew to be a beautiful young mare and had many of the tribe’s stallions chasing after her. She didn’t fancy any of them though and paid no mind to their foolish antics. When they grew to be too much Izabella would just slink away to her favorite places; most of them situated along a creek or near some flowers and were hidden by trees. She liked being away from it all and would sometimes spend days among the shade of the trees and in the water of the creeks. When she was ready to face the stallions again, she’d emerge as stubborn as before and just ignore them. Izabella stayed close to her brother and was proud of the stallion he’d become, and when she couldn’t get away from the love-sick stallions, he’d chase them off.

Life was good for the buckskin mare until one night, one thunderstruck night. It had been pouring all day, which was miserable for all the tribe’s horses. Finally, there was a break in the storm, and although the ominous black clouds still lingered, the Lakota were pretty upbeat. That is, they were until a surge of figures appeared on the horizon. The sound of hoofbeats and the smell of gunpowder hit Izabella all at once. Within seconds, the Calvary was upon the tribe. Warriors leapt to their horses, women and children ran to their tepees. Lightning crackled like fire in the sky. The remaining horses were freed from their corrals, with many of them running away. Izabella remained, searching through the sea of horses and humans for her brother, or at least her parents. Finally, she was able to pick out her beloved brother just as a rumble of thunder sounded. He and his rider hit the ground; his golden pelt becoming slicked with mud. Izabella ran to him and ended up face to face with one of the soldiers, the pistol in his hands smoked. The encounter didn’t last long, the soldiers went off to fight some other poor soul, but it did send shudders down the mare’s spine. When she looked to where her brother lay, she realized he was back on his feet. There was a streak of red across the stallion’s flank, which Izabella knew was a wound. She went to help her brother, but was immeadiately shrugged off; he said he was fine and Izabella believed every word. The rain began again; splattering down in sheets. War cries, gunfire, and whinnies grew louder by the second, and while distracted by the chaos going on around her, Izabella was bowled over by a Calvary horse and rider.

While on the ground, Izabella could only watch as a familiar horse, her father, was shot. His large frame crumbled to the ground; sending his rider flying to the ground. Tears stung as she struggled to get up and find her footing. As soon as she did, she shakily ambled over to her father; his eyes searched hers. Izabella lowered herself into the mud beside him and let the tears fall. With the light in his eyes fading, her father finally told her of his days in the wild, the freedom, and the volume of horses that were out there. At that moment, Izabella vowed that she’d find her way into the wild somehow; she’d do it for her father. The sounds of fighting grew farther away, but the sound of thunder only grew louder.

Izabella stayed with her father all night, and in the morning the entire village was gone and in absence of the tepees, more deceased bodies lay on the ground; some from the Calvary, some Lakota, and some more horses. Izabella looked for her brother, and with a heavy heart, realized he wasn’t there. He was hopefully safe and far away from the carnage that remained. With no idea where the tribe went and no hoofprints to follow due to the rain that followed the fight that night, Izabella nuzzled her father one last time and decided to go out into the wild.

In her travels she encountered many horses and herds, and eventually crossed paths with a much bigger chestnut stallion. Instead of being frightened by him, Izabella gave a quiet hello and introduced herself. The stallion stared at her for a few seconds before introducing himself as Drops of Jupiter.  Like her, he appeared to be alone, so Izabella decided to stick with him; there was safety in numbers after all. It didn’t take long for Izabella to start crushing on him.

She was invited to join his herd; the Constellation Herd.

Other-

Izabella hates thunderstorms; they remind her of the last time she saw her family.
