History:

Athene was born in a large equestrian center to a mare named Serenity. She was a mistake, a mutt, a cross-breed. Her father was a rebellious hot-blooded Thoroughbred stallion who had jumped his paddock fence one day and found Serenity, a gentle Gypsy Vanner. After Athene was born, she loved to spend time in the large corrals in the surrounding fields of the equestrian center. Growing up, Athene was teased and shunned by the other foals, haughty pure-bred foals that would show one day. Athene, however, seemed to have inherited her father’s rebellious troublemaking attitude. She stole brushed, bit trainers, escaped her paddock and caused general mayhem. By the time she was two and a half, her owner had had enough and sold her as a broodmare to a large farm out west. When the train Athene was being transported on stopped to load more horses, she stormed past and escaped to freedom. As Athene spent more time in the wild, she lost some of her hot-tempered attitude. She became gentle and sweet, but still was fierce enough to chase away a cougar that tried to attack her. Athene had found a happy balance, and was happy to be free.
