Character Traits
Likes: running, meeting new people, exploring
Dislikes: fire, gunshots, mountain lions, loud noises
Personality: Nitika is a very sweet filly, who's known to be a big dreamer.
She always talks about being with a herd of her own, even though she can't bare the thought of leaving her mother. Nitika happily spends her days with her mother, only leaving her mother a few hours a day to explore and graze by herself. Nitika dreams about being with a group of wild horses, running free whenever she wants. But she is instead trapped. Her body, anyways. Her mind is as free as a bird, and she's often lost in day-dream.
Growing up, Nitika taught herself many things. She's very smart and very quick with come-backs. She has a sharp tongue and she ain't afraid to ever say a smart remark. She speaks her mind as often as she can, very rarily turning off her sarcasm.

History
Nitika was born of a mare that belonged within the Little Creek village. Nitika's mother loved her rider, and was not in any way eager to leave him. Nitika's mother was always trying to get Nitika to warm up to the two-legged but even from birth, Nitika was always uneasy around 'man'.
From the moment Nitika was born, she feared being captured. She never wanted the two-legged touching her, and if one came close - she'd do her best to buck and rear, tyring to get them away from her. Her mother always tried to sooth her, saying everything would be fine, that living within the two-legged community was not that bad. But Nitika wanted nothing to do with it. She was determined to be free!
As Nitika grew older, she stood by her rules, never to let the two legged near her. Whenever Nitika's mother was going to go on a run with her rider, Nitika was always sure to keep her distance. She was very skittish towards humans.
The villagers learned to live with Nitika's ways, they figured she'd never change so there was no sense to fight an impossible battle. They let Nitika live within the outskirts of the villagers, for it was obvious that Nitika was not going to leave her mother.
Nitika, day in and day out, stayed with her mother. Always close by (Unless a human is close - then she's a few yards or so away). She always had conversations with her mom, telling her fantasies about living amongst a wild herd. Living free, without the restraints of man.
Nitika's mother tried to encourage her daughter the best she could, but it was no use. Nitika's mother was happy and safe within the village - she was not eager to be "free". She knew the dangers of living free: mountain lions, lack of food in the dry seasons, lack of water, and over-dominant males. It was a life, she definitely was not wanting to go back to.
Nitika understood that her mother did not want to leave, so Nitika just stayed by her mothers side. Trying her hardest to stay positive.
Nitika often goes off and explores while her mother is with her rider. Upon exploring, she finds traces of herds. Though she's never really seen one. She wished one day she would. She wished one day she'd meet at least one horse who wasn't a happy pet of a human.
She was starting to think that was impossible.
One day, however, her life changed. Her mother was going on a ride with her rider, and her mother explained that it would be a two day trip. Nitika was going to be left alone!
Nitika had the opportunity of a lifetime! The opportunity to really explore further from home, without feeling guilty of leaving her mother. Upon her mother leaving, Nitika did the same thing -- she left to go find a herd!
It took Nitika a few hours before she came even close to an encounter with a wild mustang.
She was barely making her way out of a big batch of trees when she came across a bay mustang. He was definitely the most handsome horse she's ever seen. So sturdy looking in the chest, and his legs had very strong looking muscles - and his eyes. She got lost in them. She felt silly, she felt like a love-sick yearling. But she knew she was better then that.
She introduced herself to the mustang, and she came to find out his name was Sabor, and he was traveling with a small herd of his own. Nitika could tell almost instantly that Sabor played a very important role in the herd he was traveling with - so she was eager to meet his herd.
Sabor happily agreed to show Nitika his herd. When Nitika saw the herd for the first time, she was so happy. It was a very small herd, but it was a herd nonetheless. She could tell that they all depended on eachother - they all depended on Sabor. It was a very tight-knit herd. And she loved it. That is what she began to crave. She ached to be apart of something as amazing as that.
Sabor offered Nitika to spend the night, and since Nitika had no where else to go, she gladly accepted. As day was turning into dusk, Nitika was getting to know all the members of the herd. They were all friendly, for the most part. Most of them were wild their whole life, and Nitika envied that. They effortlessly had the life she so eagerly wanted.
As the first couple stars made their appearance that night, Sabor decided it was time for the herd to settle down for the night. Sabor offered to show Nitika were she could sleep for that night. Nitika happily agreed - something about Sabor attracted Nitika.
They walked away from the rest of the herd, and as they did so they talked. They talked about eachothers history, and Nitika was informed about Sabors past. Nitika felt terrible for Sabor, yet she admired him for being so positive about the situation. A new level of respect for Sabor formed inside Nitika that night. Sabor was wanting to hear Nitika's story as well, so Nitika told him of her past. They exchanged stories almost that entire night.
The next couple days was a blast for Nitika. She lived within the herd, relocating with them and even grazing with them. Though truth-be-told, she mostly stood by Sabor. She felt a spark between the two of them, even though they haven't talked except for that single night. They seemed to have silent conversations; the occasional glances that turn into staring contest; the incidents when they graze too close to one another and they accidently almost bump snouts; and even times when they run side by side during relocation.
For once in Nitika's life, she felt so safe -at home- with an almost complete stranger.
But her mother was returning the next morning..
Was Nitika really about to leave the herd and just forget the past couple days ever existed? No.. It couldn't be that easy!

@HorseGirlLove: Thank you so much! @Blazetail: Go for it. And she is just a random appaloosa I suppose. A dun appaloosa. A snowflake crop pattern. I am not too great with horse designs or anything - I never really studied the design of horses. The beginning of my life, I was raised on a ranch, but we focused more on our roping-cattle. Not so much the horses, sadly. xD Well at least I didn't. So, I'm very open to criticism. It can help me for my future horse designs. ![]() |
