Darke- His Younger sister, & herd leader

History

The three horses slammed into Akil, forcing him to the ground. He knew that he would be badly injured during the attack. A small pool of blood began to form around his scarred pelt. In the bushes hid Darke. Not wanting her to be injured in the ambush, he covered the small white star on his head with mud, & took his sister's place, awaiting his own death...

The morning began just like any other morning, the sun rose silently over the wide field. Horses in the herd awoke, ready for a new day. Realizing what he was told yesterday, he jumped up. Somehow, he needed to do something. He needed to protect his sister. snorting, he got to his hooves, & stretched. Thinking of a plan to help his sister was much harder than he thought. The attack could launch any minute. he stared at Darke, realizing how much they looked alike. Except for the small star on his head, & the fact he was a stallion & a bit taller, The looked just alike. Then he knew what he had to do. Galloping out of herd grounds, he thought of  the river he had visited the previous day.  spotting it, he pushed himself faster. Reaching it, he dipped his forehead into the mud, completely covering the small white heart. racing back to the herd, he had made it back with time to spare. telling Darke his plan, he told her that he would take her place when the horses attacked, while she hid. Akil knew the consequences could be fatal, but he kept that to himself.
