Story: When Naru was  born, his mother died giving birth to him. So he was left with only his father, who was leader of the herd. Naru's mother's death was devastating to Naru's father, and when he looked at Naru, he swore to protect him with his life. Growing up Naru was fed by his foster mother. She looked after him while his father was busy. Naru was trained to fight and defend himself by his father, Naru loved his father more than anything in the world. And he hoped one day, he would be as great as his him.

 As Winter approached, it was time to move the herd to better grazing grounds, Naru was still just a foal when this happened, so it was hard for him to keep up. Naru kept falling back, and his father had to help him up hills and slopes. But when Naru's father was in the front of the herd, Naru sliped and fell behind the herd. He struggled to get up but by the time he did, the herd was out of eyesight. It took only a moment for Naru's father to realize his son was missing, and he galloped back through the snow looked for him. But it was then Naru came face-to-face with a hungry mountain lion, Naru stood frozen with fear, as it leaped out at him. But Naru's father jumped out in front of it and fought it fiercely. Naru's eyes were full of fear, as he could only watch. It was then Naru's father yelled out to him; " Run Naru! Run as far as you can!! And don't look back!!" Naru did as his father asked and ran. And as he did, he heard his father let out a pitiful screech of pain. Naru shut his eyes tight, as tears followed. It was then Naru became an orphan.

Naru never found his herd. He grew up in the forest, and raised himself. As a stallion Naru was nearly caught by the calvery, But luckly he was resqued by Lakota villagers, and brought to the Lakota, there he was fed and given a place to sleep. The following day he met a mare named Rana, and they eventually became mates. Days later Naru asked Rana to Runaway with him and find a herd to live in. Naru could tell Rana was hesitant, but after a careful consideration, she agreed. Naru was delighted at the thought of no longer being alone. But soon Rana became pregnat with Naru's foals and they needed to find a herd fast. Rana informed Naru of a herd not too far from here led by a buckskin stallion, So Naru and Rana set off for the Cimmarron herd. Once they arrived they asked for membership. Spirit aprroved and Naru and Rana were excepted into the herd. Naru was later on made deputy.  A few days later, Rana left the herd to give birth to her foals. Naru paced back and forth worried that something might happen to Rana. But soon Naru was relived when he saw his beautiful mare walking up the hill with two foals. He ran up the hill to meet her, And it was then he saw his two sons Zuren and Renagade. Zuren was tall and stong, and he smiled at him, but then he saw his other son who was small and scrawny. Naru's gaze was frozen, as his memory of losing his father all came back to him.Renagade looked exacly like his father. He turned and walked away.

After that day, Naru changed. He was stricter and stonger. Naru spent most of his time training Zuren, and tried his best to avoid Renagade, He said mean things he truly didn't mean, but was afraid to get close to Renagade. A month later he was confronted by Rana " Naru, this has to stop! " She pleaded with him. "I know, its just he reminds.. he looks..." Naru tried to stop his flow of tears. Rana rested her head on Naru's shoulder. " Naru, you need to put this behind you. Renagade is your son." But this did not solve his problem, in fact after that Naru and Renagade didn't speak to each other. As Renagade and Zuren became stallions Zuren was constantly at his father's side and was never around Renagade. Naru had trained him well, but his fathers crule ways had only made Renagade stronger.

Soon, It was time for Spirit to pick a new warrior of the herd, Naru was excited when Spirit told Naru that one of his sons would be chosen. He knew Spirit would surely choose Zuren, and he was looking forward to working with his son. Or so he thought... The following morning Spirit called the herd together to announce the herd's new warrior. Zuren and Renagade stood side by side waiting for Spirit's anouncement. " And the new warrior will be..." Naru leaned closer. "RENAGADE!" Naru felt a coldness sweep over him, Naru was Spirit's deputy, if Renagade was a warrior he would have to face him everyday, Naru was shocked. but Rana smiled with pride. But it was then the cheers stopped as Zuren through himself at his brother. and before any horse knew it,  Renagade and Zuren were caught in a battle to the death! Naru stood frozen in fear as he felt like the helpless little foal when his father was killed but moments later Naru heard a thump. He watched in horror as the lifeless body of Zuren came crashing down. Everyone's mouth dropped. Renagade had killed Zuren! Rana and Naru ran to Zuren and cried. Renagade looked as horrified as them, but then Spirit stepped in front of Renagade and bit his shoulder. " Renagade! You have killed a horse from this herd, therefore you are baished from the Cimmarron Herd!" Spirit Demanded. Naru glared at Renagade, as he was about to be chased out of the herd by two other stallions. Rana heard this and ran away as Renagade was chased out. Naru looked after Rana and then glared in Renagade's direction he ran after him and screamed, " You'll never be have the son Zuren was!" But after saying that, Naru felt guilty, he ran after his mate thinking to himself; " Now I've lost both of my sons, what have I done?!"
