History

Dark Sun was born in the summer during an eclipse. His mother named him Dark Sun because of the way the sun had disappeared during that time, only to reappear like a gift form heaven. When Dark Sun was born, he was small and weak and his mother hoped that he would “reappear” like the sun had and grow strong one day. Dark Sun did just that, and he grew strong and fast, as well as clever. Dark Sun became the leader of the foals in his father’s herd. Besides Dark Sun, there were six other foals. Four fillies and two colts. The colts, Cougar and Quick Foot were slightly annoyed that Dark Sun had taken control of their group of friends, but they quickly realized what a good leader he was and gladly followed his lead. The fillies, Jasmine, Kira, Snow Fall, and Cloudy were happy to follow Dark Sun. They all had crushes on him and hoped to join his herd when he grew old enough to lead a real herd. After Dark Sun's younger sister Whispering Breeze was born, she joined their little band as well, trying to keep up on her wobbly foal legs. Dark Sun adored his sister, and tried as hard as he could to keep her out of harm's way. When Dark Sun found Cougar, almost an adult now, trying to lead Whispering Breeze away form the herd to mate with her, he got into his first real fight. Cougar was no match for Dark Sun, and Dark Sun left him with scars that Cougar would never forget. When Dark Sun was a yearling, he was already adult size and almost as strong and fast as his father. When Dark Sun tried to mate with one of his father’s mares, His father promptly kicked him out of the herd. Dark Sun trotted away with no regrets and a sunny attitude, he would find his own mares quickly enough. When Dark Sun had been on his own for about a week, he wandered into the canyons. Never having experienced anything like this before, being raised on the plains, he got lost in the twisting turning labyrinth. He wandered alone for a few nights, becoming weak from dehydration and hunger. A beautiful white mare named Enna found him, and lead him out of the canyons. When Dark Sun asked her to be his mate, she told him she would think about it. When Dark Sun woke up the next morning, Enna had disappeared and Dark Sun never saw her again. Dark Sun became depressed, he didn’t like being alone and so far as a bachelor stallion he was a failure. One day he saw a familiar mare in the distance. It was Kira from his foalhood, her grey coat had lightened to a beautiful silver and she gladly joined Dark Sun. Kira quickly became pregnant, but the following year she died giving birth to Dark Sun’s first foal. Dark Sun's foal, Kiyor, survived, but just barely.Dark Sun brought him to his cousin Spirit's herd, where Esperanza took care of him. Dark Sun left his son in good care and wanders the plains alone, looking for a mate.
