Character: Sweet and caring, always puts others before herself. Dakotah can be stubborn at times, and has a few minor flaws too. She's sensitive too, and can get upset easily. Sometimes she acts odd, and isn't very good at sneaking. She's clumsy, but lovable.

Bio:

Dakotah was born in middle autumn. Her red coat blended in nicely with the autumn leaves. Her mother lay panting on the grass. Next to her lay a big red stallion, his coat almost identical to Dakotah's. Then finally, standing closeby was a cream colt with soft brown eyes. They were her family. They travelled together in a small herd, along with a young mare named Rose, a red roan mare. One day a fire started, and Rose's life was taken, as was her brothers. Dakotah couldn't find her parents, and was beginning to worry. She finally found her mother and father, curled up in a cave next to a lake. The fire fianlly began to die down, but their problems were far from over..

That morning, Dakotah woke up in her mother's warmth, but the strong smell of ash still ligered in the air, and poor Dakotah suffered the most. They began to travel again, this time in silence. It was Dakotah's first birthday when she lost her brother and her friend.

Soon it was winter, and snow began to fall. Her mother fell pregnant again, this time with twins. They were born that next year, Dakotah was 3. The twins were cute and lovable, but real troublemakers. They were always running off on their little adventures, follow by Dakotah chasing them back to the herd. The family was happy again, but not for long.

During the spring season, Dakotah was becoming more independant. She began to get farther and farther away from her parents until she could go out wandering on her own. One day, she was adventuring the canyons when she heard hoofbeats, pounding as fast as a dying rabbits heart. She became startled at first, but wasn't very worried until she heard her dad's cry. He was shouting for her. Dakotah began to bolt back, but a sore, scratchy thing settled round her neck and pulled her back, choking her. Dakotah lay in the dust with shock, staring up at the creatures. They were mounted on horses, but the horses has things around them to keep them from running. She was hauled to her feet and dragged away.

They walked for days and days until they reached an immense building, built neatly with wood stacked ontop of each other. Dakotah caught the scent of blood coming from there, and immediately began to fight back. She dug her hooves into the ground, refusing to move. The men were getting more and more frustrated until they whipped her hard, scarring her flank. Dakotah spooked, somehow escaped the ropes and escaped.

Dakotah then came across a herd. It was bigger than hers, much bigger. Lots of mares and foals resting. There stood a big buckskin stallion. He hadn't noticed her, but his son had. He came up to her, and as he began demanding her to go she fell for him. Soon he gave up and chased her away. Dakotah began to stalk the herd.

Now she was free, she began to look for a mate, and is still looking..

One day, Dakotah was roaming the forest when she heard a panting noise. Suspicious and curious, the pretty mare trotted after the sound, growing more curious as she got closer. She soon came to a bush, filled with briar. With not a care in the world, the mare walked through the prickly briars, not even wincing as they dug into her red coat. She was entranced by the stallion. He was handsome, for sure, but filled with fear. Calmly, she spoke to him, her soft words seemed to soothe him. He began to tell how he had been abused by some humans, escaped then ran through the patch, tripping over the rope.

Dakotah helped the stallion up, and took him back to his lead-mareless herd. She stayed in the herd, until one day she was captured by some cowboys, and taken away. She was sold to the cavalry. It wasn't her nature to hurt anything, and was easily tamed. She became a cavalry mount.. finally.

After her taming, she was set in a stable. A man walked up, he was the colonel of the fort. He smirked as the cowboy told him how she escaped the first time, but they found her again. Dakotah felt nervous and scared around him. She was taken out on a ride, where they found Justin's herd..

Dakotah caught sight of Justin, her heart stopping. Her mouth moved, but nothing came out. She seemed to say No.. Justin saw her and ran toward her, top speed. At first Dakotah thought he was angry when he saw the human, but instead he knocked the human off her back. Dakotah darted behind him, watching him scare off the men. 

Justin turned to Dakotah, and admitted his love for her. Tears welling up in her beatufiul blue eyes, Dakotah said the same. They became mates, and Dakotah was Justin's lead mare. Everything was happy, until the cowboy that had caught her heard that she had escaped and was coming for her..but not to capture her. He'd had enough of this mare, and was out to kill her.

He then found the herd. It was quite a big herd, and wasn't that hard to find. He took one look at Justin and knew that he could be dead if he killed his mate. He lured Dakotah out into the open, in a cruel way. He got hold of a fox and killed it, making it yelp in pain. Dakotah, being the caring mare she was, went to see if she could save it. 

Entering the forest, she didn't care if she was exposed, she saw the fox body and knew it was a trap. Before she could react, the cowboy (hiding behind a tree) pulled the trigger. She felt the bullet dig into her neck, and she fell to the ground. The cowboy galloped his horse away. Dakotah whinnied. Justin heard it and bolted after her sweet-sherbet scent.

He saw her slim figure lying on the forest ground and gasping, lying beside her. Somehow she made it. She was taken to the cave of the new herd posititon. Justin couldn't risk more humans coming. He stayed with Dakotah the full time, and soon his dreams came true. He was grazing outside the cave, when she got up and walked outside. Some of the mares thought she had died, but were shocked to see her alive.

Justin soon mounted Dakotah and made their first foal. It was a young colt, the heir to the herd. Justin was proud of his colt, and named him Elliot. He looked just like his daddy. Dakotah was finally happy with Justin and Elliot, and was expecting two more foals with him..
