Whispering Breeze was born in the middle of summer on the plains. Her brother, Dark Sun, who was a year older than her spent a lot of time with her when they were foals. After Dark Sun went off to find his own herd, Whispering Breeze felt alone. Her mother, Tia, who she had been very close with was killed in a snowstorm. Whispering Breeze felt alone until she met Evevning Star, a black tobiano mare who was a bit younger than she was. The two mares became very close and one day, when the herd was traveling in the mountains, a terrible thunderstorm hit, causing a mudslide. Evening Star and Whispering Breeze became seperated from the herd and traveled back to the plains to find their own herd .They traveled together alone for many days until they saw a herd in the distance. The two friends galloped over and met the lead stallion, a horse named Spirit. After a day, they were approached by a mare named Esperanza. She greeted Whispering Breeze warmly, saying that she was her niece. Her brother, Adder, was Whispering Breeze's father and she looked just like him. Whispering Breeze was upset by the memory of her father, whom she hadn't seen for a long time and a few days after Whispering Breeze and Evening Star left the herd.
