Bio: She and her mother joined the Burning Hills herd when she was still a foal. She grew up with Red Raven and Stone. She had a huge crush on the latter and often took his side when push came to shove. Since Obsidian only had two sons he allowed them to stay in the herd with him and take mates if they so chose.  When Quartz grew old enough she offered herself to Stone as a mate. He accepted and she became pregnant; giving birth to Flint later on.

Quartz became very sick and weak after the brith so she couldn't take care of her son besides nursing him. The care of the colt went to a yearling named Blackbird. Quartz became jealous of her because the filly and her son quickly bonded; and the fact that Stone showed interest in her. She would often bully the young filly which caused Flint to be upset with her. Despite this Quartz really did love her son.

The following spring the flood happened and several horses disappeared; including Flint. Quartz was heartbroken and blamed Blackbird. Blackbird retaliated in inspiring some of the surviving mares to rally with Red Raven; who had become her mate and they left the herd.

Stone was angry and declared war on the splinter group. Quartz offered to have another foal with him to replace the pain of losing Flint but he rebuffed her; having foals with the other three mares in stead. Quartz treates them poorly.
