Name: Coastal
Age: 4 years
Gender: Mare
Breed: Irish Draught / Thoroughbred Cross
Height: 16.2 hh
Color: Dark Liver Chestnut
Eyes: Sea Foam Greens
Personality: Calm. Caring. Gentle. Quiet. Respectful. Firm. Intelligent.
Likes: Being around foals and Looking-Glass. Her herd. Talking with the other mares. Looking-Glass. The early morning.
Dislikes: Not being able to have a foal (yet). Feeling as if she has disappointed Looking-Glass (mainly because she hasn’t been able to foal). The empty feeling foaling season brings her. Snakes. Snappy, rude, inconsiderate horses.
Relations:
Looking-Glass: The first stallion she’s finally met that treats her gently. She fell for him pretty quick, his charm sped up the process (lol). She loves him dearly and is utterly devoted to him, though her heart is in pain that she hasn’t been able to give him the gift of a foal.
Rain: Was her best friend and adopted sister before she decided to leave the Lakotah’s. She had visited her often before she met Looking-Glass. Now she stays with her new family for the most part.
Spirit: Was the dashing young stallion that came and swept her “sister” Rain off her feet.
Sierra: Was her adopted Mom.
Storm: Was her adopted Dad.
Biography:
Coastal was born on the outskirts of the Lakota tribe. Her mother had been kicked out of her home herd for falling for an outside stallion. When she finally found him, he ditched her close to the Lakotah’s, telling her she was worthless. This broke the mares heart, but that night she had an even more hard job to face… alone. Or so she thought.
Her cries were heard by a mare in the village. This mare was named Sierra and she too was expecting very soon, but nevertheless she went out and found the scared wore-out mare. Through the night she stayed with her and talked to her, trying to calm her. Finally a beautiful little filly was born…. but her mother had passed. Sierra took pity on the filly and from that moment on took on a motherly role with her. After getting the filly cleaned up, Sierra nudged the newborn till she was attempting to get up. Once she was finally on all four, rather wobbly, but still standing, Sierra was taken aback by how long the filly’s legs were. The filly also had different heights of socks on each leg. Slowly but surely the duo made it back at the village at dawn.
Everyone there had though Sierra had given birth to the filly, but they were quickly set straight, especially since some were starting to spread rumors that the filly looked nothing like Sierra’s mate Storm. When Storm finally met up with Sierra he said nothing in regard to the filly all day. He waited till that night when Sierra told him everything. Storm and Sierra agreed to raise the filly along with their own foal and gave her the name Coastal. Two nights later Sierra gave birth to the lovely filly Rain.
Coastal and Rain grew up together, they were tight as any blood related sisters could be. They spent every day with each other and told each other their secrets. Then a time came when they turned four that Rain met a special stallion… a dun stallion named Spirit. Coastal knew that the two were made for each other and even encouraged Rain the night before Spirit took her off to his own herd. They made a vow that they would never forget each other.
A month later Coastal said good-bye to her parents, now feeling the need to spread her wings. She had been traveling a month when….
