Bio:
Hope was technically and accident. Her mother was not supposed to get impregnated with her, because she was part of a very strict herd where the mares would only mate with the lead stallion. But her mother mated with another stallion. He was not part of the herd Hope and her mother were in, and as soon as Hope was born, he left. Hope was born into the herd her mother was in, and she had no friends what-so-ever. Nobody liked her for some reason. Other filly's envied her for being so beautiful. Colt's didnt like the kind of combination she was, cute with a nice personality. They wanted the mean filly's for some reason. So Hope was left by herself, with her mother and no friends at all. She spent her days with her mother grazing or sleeping or walking about.
One day, while all was quiet in the herd valley, the lead stallion went out to check the perimeter of the herd lands. Nobody was really concerned, until a huge flock of birds flew out from all the trees. The stallion came rushing out of the forest he was checking in, and behind him was about five men on horseback. And of course, stupid as the stallion was, he came running straight towards the herd, setting the herd up for capture. Hope and her mother saw and began to run, but instead of going with the rest of the herd, they ran off to the sides, hoping they wouldnt et captured. They ran for about a mile, and then they stopped, and started walking, tired from the run. Hope's mother told her to calm down, and that everything was going to be ok. But just then there was a snap of a twig somewhere in the forest they were in, and before anyone could react, a man and his horse came bounding out of the trees, throwing his rope around Hope's mother. Her mother struggled and tried to get free, but more men came and tied her up. And just as suspected, Hope got caught too. She didnt want to leave her mother.
However, after traveling for so long caught up in the ropes, the men with Hope's mother began to drift away. Hope tried to get back to her mother, but the men were too strong for her, she was forced to go with them, and leave her mother forever.
Hope was taken to a ranch that resided in western South Dakota. She was taken into a barn, with many other horses everywhere. They looked well-taken care of, but Hope was still weary. She never had trusted humans since getting caught, and she wasnt about to forgive them so easily. Everyday Hope was taken out with about fifty other horses, and they were tied to stage coaches that carried people. Of course she had to be walked, because she wasnt trusted. Hope never liked having this duty, she got pains in her neck and back and legs. But one good thing about being at the barn, was that she made a friend. Her name was Susy-Q. She was a little chestnut mare, not much taller than Hope, with kind, green eyes. Susy-Q had come from a farm where the men used whips and rocks, and they abused her. This place wasnt very much better, but they never used any kind of abusive tools.
One day while Hope and Susy-Q and a bunch of other horses were doing there duties as stage coach horses, a problem occured. Susy-Q had been pregnant for a while now, and she was just about seven months into gestation. Just as Susy-Q was being hooked up to her stage coach, she fell to the ground. Hope stood there in aw, not knowing what was wrong or what to do or if she would live or not. It was the baby, it was going to be premature. Susy-Q had to be unhooked from her stage coach and brought back to her stall. Hope had to stay where she was, but she refused to, her friend was in pain and she had to help. She kicked at the stage coach and reared up until she was forced to be brought back to her stall because he driving would be unstable. Hope stood there in her stall, watching over in the next stall as Susy-Q gave birth to her premature baby. Unfortunetly, the baby was too big though. Susy-Q could not give birth to this foal, she didnt have the energy or will-power to do so. Hope stood there watching over as her best friend suffered. A tear rolled down her cheeck.
Susy-Q passed away that night.
