Personality

Delka is a very kind stallion. He can be strict sometimes, and seem a little harsh, but everything he does is for his herd. He is always kind and loving towards his mares and foals, and is very protective of them, but not controlive. He often does not trust other stallions, and when he smells another stallion, usually quietly disappears into the shadows with his herd. He would do anything for his herd, and loves them with all his heart.

Where they live: In a large clearing in a forest. The clearing has a creek and lots of long lush grass.

About the herd:

 The Delkato Herd is run by Delka and his lead mare Khalia. Unlike most other stallions, Delka does not fight others for their mares, he lets the mares come to his herd willingly. Delka often goes to horse farms where the horses are being mistreated and frees as many horses as he can, offering for the mares and foals to stay in his herd. If they do not wish to stay in his herd, then he lets them go, he never forces anyone to stay.

History

As a Foal

Delka was born to a palomino mare named Esperanza, later known as ‘the mother of a legend’. Esperanza was only young when she had Delka, and it turned out that having a foal wasn’t as great as it seemed. Delka was a mischievous little rascal as a colt as was constantly getting into all sorts of trouble. He had seen how the other foals acted, all proper and obedient, but Delka just wanted to run and be free. So he did, and with Esperanza being so young she still had that wild spirit that he did.

As a Teen

As Delka became a teen he became even more troublesome than ever. He had taken to racing the eagle around the plains to burn off his energy. By now Esperanza was a responsible adult and had met the love of her life, a stallion named Strider. Before long she had a foal with him who she named Spirit. Delka loved having a younger brother and immediately started teaching him how to be mischievous too. Before long Delka and Spirit were racing the eagle together… But this would last as long as they would hope….

Delka never really got along with Strider, and after Spirit was born Strider did almost everything he could to get Delka out of the family.  Before long Delka couldn’t take any more of his step father pushing him away, so he confronted Strider. After a long argument Strider banished Delka from the herd, and sent Delka out on his own to find his own herd.

As an Adult

Delka wandered the plains and forests alone, until he stumbled across the Lakota Tribe. There were two legged creatures here that rode on the backs of other horses, and built shelters for themselves and their horses. Delka found them very strange, and after a while ventured into the village. He wasn’t afraid of these creatures, and they weren’t a threat to him. After a few days he became used to the noise of the humans, and started to settle into his new home. This is where he met a beautiful mare named Khalia. She appeared in the village one day, all alone and looking for some friends. She was the prettiest mare he had ever seen. It was almost love at first sight for the two. After many weeks of being friends he asked her to be his mate, and she accepted.

After becoming mates, Delka and Khalia decide that they didn’t want to live in the village anymore. They set out onto the plains to find a home of their own, and to start a herd. After a month or so they came to a lovely lush clearing in the centre of a forest. Immediately they knew that this would be their new home.

From then on they would travel just outside the forest to the farms and set poor mistreated horses free, and welcome mares and foals into their herd. Delka knew what needed to be done for his blood lines to run on, and so Khalia and he agreed that he could breed with all the other mares in the herd. He loves all his mares equally, accept for Khalia, because she will always be his one true love.
