Other~
History:
Starla was born in the wild with just her mother and her twin brother. They were alone and weren’t currently in a herd so Starla wasn’t immediately used to a lot of crowding and commotion.
She was very small and about 3 ½ hours after she was born some rustling was heard in the bushes nearby. Her mother immediately knew what it was and shielded her new foals as a cougar jumped out of the scrub.
It went straight for Starla and her brother and her mother just wasn’t strong enough to save both of them. He brother was killed and dragged away by the cougar and Starla and her mother were left lying together startled and grief stricken.
Starla’s mother was hurt badly during the fight and it didn’t take long for her to rest her head slowly onto Starla’s neck as the cuddled and gradually she passed away.
Starla didn’t understand what was happening and fell asleep next to her mother’s body; cuddling up to her warm fur.
Starla was awoken by a strange figure, in the few hours she was alive she had been told about a ‘human’ and she was pretty sure this was one. He had long brown hair and a calming face. Gently, he helped Starla to her feet and walked her slowly on some kind of dirt path before they reached a village.
“Don’t be frightened girl; this is your new home.” He said gently rubbing her neck as her heart beat fastens. Leading her down to where a lot of other horses were crowded she watched in wonder at all the new sites.
Suddenly a girl around 12 years of age came up,
“can I open my eyes yet?” She asked nearly stumbling into Starla.
“Yep now,” The human holding her said, he wasn’t much older than the girl.
The girl opened her eyes wide as she caught site of Starla.
“oh my gosh Little Creek!!! Thank you!” She cried hugging the boy and then bending down to Starla’s level. “Hey girl,” She said patting her gently.
“it was no problem Brooke.” He replied.
Years passed and Starla was happy with her now much older rider Brooke. The two were completely inseparable and loved to spend time together; they were the best of friends.
But Starla ached for something more, she wanted to be part of a herd, somewhere she felt like she belonged.
She snuck out various times and soon found a beautiful herd who welcomed her in willingly. She trusted them and they trusted her and before long she was constantly leaving to go visit them. She felt like she finally had a proper home but she felt torn. One half of her wanted ever so badly to live permanently in the herd and the other half was completely dreading the thought of ever leaving Brooke.
So she decided to take Brooke to the herd and introduce her. The other horses were weary about humans, especially ones they hadn’t seen or met before but Brooke had a way with animals and before long she became one of them.
Brooke knew what Starla wanted deep down and now Starla lives happily with her new herd (full time) and sees Brooke every day. She was given the spot of second in command mare by Dusty and Hex the leaders and couldn’t be happier.
