Basic History
Mallory was born in captivity to a wild mother. Because it hurt for his mother to allow him to nurse, Mallory could not feed. His mother would not let him anywhere near her. Without food, Mallory lay in the dust, weak and hungry, wondering why his mother wouldn't come near him. The next day, a groom who worked at the stables found Mallory laying in the dirt. He yelled at the other workers for not doing anything about this, scaring poor Mallory. But when the groom caressed and fed him, Mallory warmed up to groom. (Note: This is what I have so far in his fanfic. The following is an assumption of what I think will happen next.)
When Mallory is nursed back to health, he develops a bond with the groom. As Mallory gets older, the groom even begins to train him, despite the warnings from his fellow workers "not to get attached." Soon, the owner of all the horses and the stables returned from a long trip to the city. The master is enraged that the groom dared to think that he would allow him to keep the horse. To prove his point, he sells Mallory without telling the groom. Afraid of not being with his master, the groom, he refuses to board the train car to his new home, the Cavalry. However, using brute force, the master forces Mallory on and sends him away. At his new home, Mallory suffers seperation anxiety, running up and down the fence during the day, and sulking, head low, at night. His new master, the Colonel, is angered, as he was promised a happy, spirited horse... More details later. Sorry this isn't well written, all of this is from the top of my head and hasn't been "refined," I guess you could say. This will be updated as soon as I finish his fanfic.
Other
Relation to Spirit- He was sold to the Cavalry at one point. Not great, but all I have so far. I need more ideas...
Added note- In the fanfic, this is all from his point of view, so he does not call the groom or the master by any names. Bear with me.
