Bio: Lady was born in the spring of 1984. She was raised by a family that trained her to be the most bombproof horse in the world. You could ride her bareback and with no reins, just hold onto her mane. Lady had one foal when she was about 7 years old but the baby died at birth. Around the time she was 16 she was sold to a new owner, otherwise known as me. I was young at the time and she was basically my baby sitter. In the many years she lived with me, we did 4H together. We won 4 trophies and many ribbons together. One of the events she hated most was Pole Bending. We always got disqualified.
When I had to move away Lady was left with my grandparents and Duke. She basically became a pasture pet and became lame. Her knees, hips, and back all started to go bad. Every time she walked it would pop or creak and would cause her a lot of pain. She would be limping half of the time or wouldnt even move at all. During a storm she aquired another injury in her right eye, leaving her blind.
On March 6, of 2012, my grandma walked out to feed the horses, only to see Lady on the ground and Duke standing a few feet away nudging her. That day my mare passed away. She lived to be 28 years old. And she was the best horse, I have EVER had.
