Annawan's Story:
I was born into the Cheyenne Indian tribe in the midst of a cold winter. I was a tough colt though, and managed to survive, with the help of my mother and the tribe. When I was about a week old, my new owner, a small Cheyenne boy of about 6 years old, started handling me. I was his very first horse, and he was my very first person.
He was a fine boy, handling me with care and skill. He held alot of skill and knowledge for his age, and I respected him for it. He still had alot to learn, and I did too. But, as we grew in age and skill, we were an awesome team. When he was 9 years old and I was 3, we started riding. It was only in a pen made of cut-down trees, bound together tightly at first. But soon we were racing the wind together, out on the flatlands. I was one of the fastest horses in the tribe at age 3!
When he reached 13, and I was almost 7, we started hunting with the men. We killed many deer, chasing them down over long distances, I would always catch up fast and never tired easily. We also killed large buffalo with ease and skill. Dancing in and out of the herd, until a buffola separated and my boy threw his spear, which never missed its mark. We were a dangerous pair.
But, all good things must come to an end, for one day my boy was killed. He and his friends were playing near the river, and he had been swept away by the strong currents. I was so upset that I ran away, never to return to the tribe.
I am now happy in the company of Ace, a good friend of mine. We keep eachother company, and joke around alot. He never looks at mares, while i'm always happy to be in the company of one when I get the chance. I don't mind though, becuase he is pretty cool. I will always be free, never to be fenced, ridden, or touched by human hands agian, lest my boy return.
