Bio:

Was born and raised with her best friend, Esperanza. But when Espy found her own mate in Strider, Cora felt happy for her friend and also felt it was her time to find a mate, too. She traveled south and met the infamous Pacing White Mustang along the way.  She became Pacer's first mare, and as his herd grew, she was given the position of Lead Mare, for Pacer knew that her kindness, generocity and easy-going nature made her the best possible choice. That, and he loved her more then anything. When the herd was being chased further south by Vaqueros shortly after Cora had a foal, Pacer sent her away with the tiny day-old colt. It broke their hearts to have to part with each other, but it had to be done for the safety of the foal. Cora traveled with her colt back to the north with the intentions of joining the Cimarron herd and reuniting with her best friend, Esperanza. But, along the way, some bear hunters found her and began tracking her. Cora didn't want to lead the men to the Cimarron herd, so she changed course and headed towards the Bitteroot Mountains in Idaho. Her son, whom she called Coaly Bay for his impeccable bay and black coat, was almost 4 months old when they reached the mountains. Unfortunately, the bear hunters picked up her trail and caught up with the mare and colt. Having experience with relentless humans, and hearing that her beloved mate eventually succumbed to them, she urged her son to go on without her. She would stay behind and distract the hunters. Coaly didn't want to leave his mother, but she insisted, and he finally agreed. He watched from the safety of the trees as his mother was gunned down, her body to be used as bear-bait. Coaly vowed he would NEVER succumb to the wretched humans. If he were captured, he'd find any possible way to escape.

Cora gave her life to save the last wild remnant of her infamous mate, leaving behind the most intelligent, cunning horse the west had ever known; Coaly Bay the Outlaw Horse.
