History: Artemisia was born amongst a wild herd. Her mother had given birth to her in a secluded area, not far from the herd. As her mother was licking and cleaning up the afterbirth so that predators like cougars don’t take track on them, a mountain lion (cougar) was quietly creeping up on her. Artemisia, who was about 10 minutes old, and her mother had no idea. But it was too late. When her mother turned around, the cougar had already leaped into the air, claws out towards Artemisia’s mother. Just like that, she was gone. Artemisia’s father, stallion of the herd, felt a something strange. He smelled the air in search of Artemisia’s mother. The scent of a mountain lion approached his nostrils, and he began running towards the source. As he was running, he saw his lead mare’s body laying on the ground, dead with a cougar next to it and a foal near a bush. He chased the cougar away and returned to the foal (Artemisia) and his lifeless mare. He knew he could do nothing, so instead of wasting time, he pushed Artemisia (not knowing what had happened) to get up and escorted her safely back to the herd.

Artemisia was adopted by a mare in the herd. The mare took great care of Artemisia and loved her as if she were her own filly. Artemisia grew up a decent life. She was in the age between a filly and a mare around the time the separation of the herd took place. It was a wet evening. The clouds had just come in and rain droplets drizzled the land. There was a sense of uneasiness amongst the horses, probably because of the proceeding storm. Out of nowhere, there was a sudden flash of purple, blue and white light and the sound of an explosion in the sky. Artemisia felt her body tremble and was petrified. All the horses, including Artemisia began running in every direction, scattering themselves. Artemisia kept running, running as far away as she possibly could. The lightning strike caused a wild fire which spread very quickly. As Artemisia felt herself compile, she stopped and looked back, searching for her herd. By now the wild fire had already spread far and wide, separating her from her herd. She knew she couldn’t go back, now that the fire was everywhere. Artemisia was heartbroken and alone.

A couple months after Artemisia’s separation, she came upon another herd of wild horses. She quietly followed them, not getting too close. The lead stallion of this herd was a dark bay. He was very strong and powerful. Artemisia acquired a liking towards the stallion. Days after, the stallion took notice of Artemisia following his herd, but he thought her as a bachelor horse. The stallion ran towards Artemisia in an act to protect and claim his herd, but he stopped only to perceive her as a young mare. Artemisia was shocked and confused. The stallion felt foolish and apologized to her. The stallion’s name was The Arsonist. He liked her and took her in to his own herd. Soon, Artemisia became his lead mare and she had a herd/family once again.
