Unlike most who were born in the village of humans, Akecheta was born in the outskirts of a small villiage that was destroyed by many men in conquest to destroy the natives. Akecheta was born out side of the indian camp where Custer's Last Stand took place. His mother, Macawi, was a village mare and would forever stay true to her roots... she sadly died fighting with her human. Fourtunatly for her, she saved her son by hiding him away. Akecheta wondered the grounds and looked upon the dead bodies of fellow horses and the humans. Then in the rubble, there was his mother... slain... The colt did not know what to do or what to think... At his age he still needed his dam.... but he also knew that if he did not start moving on now that he would die.
The years passed him by and he became a submissive member of a small band led by a stallion named Picasso. The large chestnut sabino took Akecheta under his wing and showed him the ways of living the life of a wild stallion. Akecheta turned three years old when he challenged Picasso for the spot of being lead stallion. The battle was long and rough.... Akecheta was wearing Picasso down little by little. But eventually Akecheta won the fight. He did not kill Picasso but instead allowed the elder stallion be one of his herd members.
