Personality: Russian is a tough, couragous horse with endless energy. He would do anything to make his rider proud and whatnot. He puts all his effort into whatever is thrown at him.
Weak, whiney horses rile Russian up and usually keeps to himself until they become too much. Then he would either snort and give them a dirty look, or kick them in the stomach. He thinks high of himself and often shows off a bit, making most of the Calvery work horses shake their head's. He doesn't care one bit, infact, he kinda likes it.
His friends are often led by him because they feel slightly intimidated by him and just listen to what he says. ( Or neighs, lol. ) They have no problem with that, I guess, but they know better to listen than just say no.
He can be a little snobby at times or rude, but don't take it to heart because he's only being an ass and trying to make you feel low of yourself.
History:
Russian was born into Spirit's herd by one of Esperenza's close friends.
He quickly became rather popular because of his golden coat and looks. Because of this, he became proud of himself and usually strutted around the herd like some stuck up colt.
That feeling of himself followed into adulthood, where he ran into Spirit and had a major fallout because he disagreed with Spirit's tactics for the herd, which got him kicked out and had to survive on his own.
Soon, he dicided to name himself "Russian Gold" mainly because of his coat. He had no problem surviving on his own, infact, he quickly became to like being alone. That soon got him into trouble.
About four months into surviving on his own, he was having a drink by a creek, ears soon twitching as he heard distance horse neighs. At first, he thought it was some lone horses, or even another herd, but then followed the human voices, whistling and yelling as they spotted Russian. This kinda shocked Russian on the inside, because he spotted all the ropes and weapons the men were carrying. He ignored his fear to run and casually neighed at the men's horses. The Calvery's horses only stared, wondering what the hell Russian was thinking to do that.
The men yelled once more and threw ropes around his neck, pulling him closer to them and their horses.
Russian soon went ballistic, bucking at rearing, and falling down severel times. What WAS Russian thinking? He soon thought that ignoring his fear to run wasn't a good idea, he should of listened to it. But no, it was too late and more men came galloping in, throwing more ropes around him. Russian gritted his teeth and dug his hooves into the dirt, The friction from the tight rope drew blood, making him winch in pain. Blood soon rolled down his neck, staining that wonderful golden coat of his. As much as he was resisting the men's pulls, whips and yells..the pain was becoming too immense and decided to give in and follow to wherever the men were taking him.
A few days past, and he was hungry, tired and thirsty. The sun was beaming down on his golden coat, making some of the men grin. They hit the jackpot and were hoping the Colonal would be proud of their catch.
Russian's neck was bloodstained and still stung here and there, but was healing quickly. He lifted his head up wearily and perked his ears forward, noticing a building in the distance. Some of the horses gave him a look as if to warn him about something. But what would Russian worry about? Not much. So he just ignored the looks.
Soon, large, wooden doors opened and the men led him in, eyes from all around, looking straight at Russian. What was this place? It was filled with horses, working, getting shoed, fed and whatnot.
The men got off their horses and led him over and tied him up, Murphy soon walking over with some tools. Russian was intrigued by them and decided to NOT play up, but rather stand there and see what he was going to do. Murphy clipped his feet, trimmed his mane without any major play ups from Russian. Only a few head shakes and paws of his hooves.
The Colonal soon walked over and was in awe, but kept his stern, emotionless face. Russian watched the Colonal slowly as he walked over, studying Russian.
The men soon untied him and walked him over to into the breaking yard/arena. ( Or whatever it's called. It's been YEARS since I've watched Spirit. :/ ) Russian halted, shaking his head, the men yelling at him and shoving a cold, metal bit into his mouth and throwing a saddle on quickly, buckling up the girth tight, pinching Russian in the stomach, making him snort and whirl his tail.
Soon, one of the men jumped on him, gathering the reins up tightly. Russian kinda liked the weight of the man on his back... even though he was fully wild. So he decided to play along with this..
Severel days later, Russian was shaking and panting, after several men had jumped on him. His back was sore and he was all out of wack.
He was broken.
Russian was soon assigned to one of the Colonal's right-hand men. He soon learnt that this was gonna be his job as a work horse until he ages more and cannot be ridden anymore.
Russian liked it. He was proud to be such a horse.
He never gave his old life a second thought.
