Name: Sierra
Age: Depends on use, but generally around 10 years old
Color: Blue Roan
Gender: Mare
Height: 15hh
Herd: Roan Mountain Herd, consisting of Sierra, Phoenix, Migisi, Wahiwa, Angel, Akecheta, and Warrior
Mate: Phoenix [Som]
Foals: Akecheta, Warrior
Personality: Sierra has a fairly easygoing temperament, but she knows the limits of the herd better than anyone. As a lead mare, she is very open to all of the members of her herd, though not more than to her mate, Phoenix. As Phoenix is the lead stallion, Sierra more often listens to him than to her own advice, because Phoenix protects the herd, and she keeps order.
History: Not much is known about Sierra's life previous to being herd leader other than she met Phoenix at a young age and fell in love with him and they eventually started their own small band together. When she was five years old, she gave birth to Akecheta, and after her herd was captured by wranglers over a year later, she gave birth to another foal, who she and Phoenix would eventually name Warrior when he reached the age of 2 years old.
Eventually Sierra, Phoenix, and the herd were put on a train and transported to the mountainside where the cavalry was trying desperately to bridge the Northern Pacific Railroad. They were then hitched to the train engine and forced to pull it along with all of the other horses until a buckskin stallion named Spirit managed to free all of the horses. While most of the other horses were rounded back up for the cavalry, Sierra and her herd made a mad dash for the snow-covered mountains they called home. Knowing that the herd must have an heir, Sierra and Phoenix have been training Warrior, but Sierra still wonders what has become of her firstborn, and she hopes that he is alright and that he will one day return home.
