Name: Keya
Gender: Mare
Age: Foal – 3 years old
Breed: Paint Horse Mixture
Parents: Unknown, unless I think of them. They’re not important though for story.
Stallion: Dakota [Tanak]
Personality:She is a very kind and calm horse. However, when those she cares about a lot are in danger or have been hurt she doesn’t hesitate to let the perpetrators know. She will be angry, enraged and knows how to hold a grudge.
She can be like this because she is very protective of her loved one’s. This also makes it difficult for Dakota to talk to her in the beginning since she holds a grudge against him. Reason will be revealed in the fanfiction.
Abilities/skills: She is a very perceptive mare, able to see past facades and get to the heart of matters. Something that at first aggravates Dakota, who doesn’t like to be “dissected” about his past, which he tried to forget.
History: Shortly after Keya was born she got injured in a panicked chase for safety. She had fallen down and cut herself on a sharp rock. A short while after that, she became weak and ill to the point where she could no longer stand. The wound had gotten infected.
The stallion of the herd saw her as a weakness, a liability. He wasn’t overly mean about it, he just needed to keep his herd safe and with her the herd would be more susceptible to danger as she would require care and lots of protection.
Not willing to risk any of his herd, he made the decision to leave Keya behind. Keya’s mother fought his decision, but in the end was forced to leave by the stallion who would not leave any of his mares behind.
Keya was found by the Sioux Indian Tribe who took care of her and nursed her back to health. Keya got an foster-mother since she still required milk. She grew up with these Indians into a beautiful young mare.
When she was 3 years old she and her Indian friend got caught in a trap by the Pawnee Indian Tribe. They stole her away and was brought to the Pawnee camp. There she met Dakota [Tanak].
Relation to Spirit: Falls in love with Spirit’s son, Dakota [Tanak].
Fanfiction: Untitled, work in progress.
