History: Aspen was born in Germany in the stables of a wealthy breeder. His owner named him Espe (Aspen in German) for the Aspen leaf on his left shoulder. Years passed and Aspen became a handsome three year old. He could understand humans in both German and English and was the pride of the barn. One day, the breeder found out that war horses were needed in America. Knowing that Aspen would make a good war horse, he sold him and shipped him over the Atlantic. Aspen became a great war horse, but longed to be free and with his family. In a battle with the Lakota, Aspen lost his rider and tack. He wandered through the woods with a small possey until they came the the Albino's herd. The Albino wasn't impressed. He drove the horses out, but his daughter Penny caught with Aspen and told him he could stay in the woods surronding the plains. He stayed there for a long time, Penny visiting him everyday. Aspen began to love the yearling.  Soon though Aspen realized it wasn't safe anymore because the Albino was getting suspicious and told Penny he had to leave. Penny begged him to stay but just then the Albino galloped toward them, intending to punish his daughter and drive the stallion out. Aspen wasn't going to let Penny suffer and fought the Albino, but was defeated and thought to be dead. Aspen regained consciousness, but by that time the herd had moved on. For two years he searched for Penny, finally finding her with a stallion who was hurting her. Her fought the stallion and won Penny. The two became mates, and with the help of their friend Sitka, joined the Cimarron herd.
