Summary
Harry was born on a ranch where his parents lived and worked with the other two cowboys Boss and Bear. It was Boss' ranch and the boy was brought up with proper respect drilled into him. From an early age he rode, and he helped care for the horses even before then. When he was ten years old, the three men caught a golden palomino mustang mare to the ranch, and there she was tamed and trained. Harry grew attatched to her and spent time with the new mare along with Tammy, the old bay Quater Horse. But sadly, the mare was sold to the army soon after, and Tammy was put out of her misery when it was discovered that she had colic.
As a teenager, Harry joined Speedy, Bear and Boss under the nickname of Bullseye, and he learnt how to track and live out in the wilderness. He enjoyed spending time outside the ranch, and depending on the season he would hunt, fish or capture wild mustangs with the three men. When he turned 15, Boss gave him ownership of a new born colt which he named Spring and began to train once the horse was three.
By the time they were both ready to ride together, news came via the postman that a new town was being set up in the Cimarron Valley, and he moved to the camp with his parents and two 'uncles'. For a few months they built cabins and fences, cleared trees and set up a waterwheel for Harry's new homestead, where he would stay as an adult to live his own life. To help start him out at the age of 19, Boss, Bear and Speedy went out with him to collect a few mustangs for his ranch. His main objective was horses, not the cattle that he was forced to breed for a reliable income. Soon the herd had disappeared from the lands, and he was left to make do with several mustang mares and a stallion, and later bought a Clydesdale and a Perchon to pull his plough and cart. As a goodbye gift before moving back to the ranch, the three cowboys left him a pair of Quarter Horses to breed with the local stock so he could use them for work aswell.
Over the years he managed to invest in Appaloosas and the odd Paint Horse because of popular demand for their exciting coats, but his focus stuck with Quarters and Mustangs. Although the other men in town were happy to breed with his QHs, none would go near the feral horses, as they believed their blood was wild and they were not good enough to work. It seemed that only Harry saw the true beauty of the wild horse. More people moved to the now-established Cimarron Town, including a plucky young lady called Annie Smith, who he fell for completely. It took her a while to warm to him, as her cheeky sense of humor often left her laughing at his misfortune, but she had a soft-spot for him that grew into love. A few months later they were married, and she took up an interest in the horses; particularly the wild ones, giving him someone to talk to that shared his passion.
Harry also managed to make friends and enemies in the town. His friends were a cheerful bunch who also farmed, but in the field of crops, cattle and poultry, none of them even daring to match his stud farm. They all enjoyed having the weekly drink at the saloon, but Harry always insisted on keeping to one drink alone, since he was secretly amused at the foolishness the others potrayed when they were drunk. However, his rival - son of another successful horseman - was keen to show him up. They constantly fought with each other using cunning and stealth. They both lost and won equally, becoming more and more competitive and vicious as time went on. After a serious scrap in the centre of town, the Sheriff warned them that if either of them played up again there would be serious consequences. Harry - although enraged - took the advice and tried to keep out of his rival's way, even if it meant losing out himself. But his oppentant was determined to push the boundaries, and was caught trying to make on of Dasher's horses lame. He was jailed and sent away, ending the problems and lifting the couple's spirits.
Now that they have a business firmly established, and enough gold to feed themselves in the winter, Harry and Annie wish for children to lighten their day. He continues to breed, train and sell his horses, content but ready to take his lasso in hand incase he ever sees the golden mare again.
I did the lineart - pose (c) Dreamworks
I'm not ready for people to use him in stories since I'm not finished with him, but if you want to do a picture, image, ect., just send the request thingy and I'll accept. He's not a completed character so this information may change as time goes on. I might yet write his own lifestory; there are hardly any human tales on this site!
