Basic Plot
Dusk was born as the future leader of his herd, both of his parents being the leaders. He enjoyed a strong and healthy relationship with both his parents and spent lots of time with his colt friends. He was more interested in racing and play fighting to take an interest in the fillies, so he never had any experience with females. As he got towards the age of four his father began to drift away from him as he didn’t feel ready for his son to take over his herd, so he chased him out. But the young stallion was strong and challenged him to a fight over the position of leader. His fathers cheated by faking an injury, prompting his son to go easy on him and try to help his dad, but he took advantage of his son’s kindness, won the fight and drove him out of his territory, biting him on the rear as a warning to stay away. This was his first scar.
Dusk changed his name to Pirate and tried several times to get back into his herd, but his father was always on the watch and eventually he gave up and found an empty piece of land a few miles away to live. Soon, his childhood friends found him and they formed a bachelor herd, in which he established leadership instantly, first forming the Band. He continued to train up and fight the youngsters, keen to one day have his revenge. Soon more young stallions joined the herd and he decided to begin making systems when the weaker members complained that the older ones were constantly attacking them. Soon he forgot about his revenge and began to stream his thoughts and actions towards collecting his own mares for a stronger, better bred herd of his own by training himself up and becoming the strongest stallion on the gigantic planes. He started fighting properly, earning many scars over the years.
One day an elderly grey stallion wandered into their grounds, and Pirates soldiers asked what to do with him. The stallion said that he wasn’t going to be harmed, which had been exactly what the leader was thinking. After discovering the stallion’s gift, he was taken care of by the weaker members and he became the visionary who would predict the herd’s safety and prosperity. Also, a cougar was sighted nearby and Pirate fought the cat himself, threatening to kill him unless they could reach an agreement. A deal was settled: new herd members would be tested against him to see if they were strong enough, and any traitors or prisoners would be weakened before sending him an easy meal, as well as any dead horses.
Through the years new captains and officers arrived, including James and Nickle. By the seventh year the Band was nearing 100 herdies that had been arrested and placed into unit groups. Spuro was found one night and trained up, becoming an officer and then a captain three years later. Ghost was also eventually promoted as Captain of Systematics, until he was allowed to begin a new division called the Elite Forces, warriors that would ease the fighting. So far, Pirate is unaware that there are horses in his herd that plot to ruin him and his evil kingdom, and it is only a matter of time before they strike. There is no hope that he will change his ways, but will he figure out who the traitors are? And what will he do with them? And who is the final target for his herd versus herd war?
Physical
Breed: Mustang
Coat: Dunalino
Body: Dusty Brown
Main and Tail: Cream
Hooves: Pale
Inside Of Ears/Nose: Pink
Eyes: Orange (Unrealistic, I know, but it gives him an evil look)
Muzzle: Brown
Markings: Dorsal Stripe, Dun shading, Leg Stripes
Structure: Tall, Muscular and Scruffy
Voice: Rob Rackstraw (Campion in Watership Down TV series), Rough, Low, Formal and Threatening
Psychological
Loves: Controlling others, destroying his enemies
Likes: Giving orders, watching fights
Dislikes: Van the cougar, being told what to do
Hates: Traitors, stallions from other herds, his father, being questioned
Personality: If he can’t control it he doesn’t want to know about it. He spends much of his time alone angsting over how his father kicked him out of his home unfairly and planning to defeat other lead stallions. He lies without concern or conscience and will happily exploit others to progress. He is selfish, greedy and has no value of life since he is willing to send other horses to war even if it means their death as well as his opponents. He is a twisted old stallion who became so obsessed with conquering others he forgot about returning home like originally planned and instead focussed on causing pain and suffering that he felt. He used to be lonely and merciful but that has long vanished. He doesn’t know how to treat women properly, only valuing their beauty and youth instead of their freedom and character.
Relationships
Father: No Name (Lead Stallion)
Mother: No Name (Lead Mare)
Mate: None in particular (Wants to steal other stallions’ mares for his own giant herd)
Foals: None (Doesn’t like foals much, would leave them to the mothers to bring up, prefers fillies to colts as he doesn’t want opponents. I HayleyWolf has asked me about her character having a foal with him, and this is probably the only one I'm going to go with since he has a limited storyline. Also, he probably won't be aware he has a child - clue is in the word 'bachelor'.)
Rank: Leader of the Band
Captains: James, Spuro, Nickle, Ghost, Shot, Gorse, Shorty, No Name (replaced Ghost’s old position)
Horse friends: Ghost (Sucks up to him), Shot (Loyal follower), Shorty (Adviser), James (close friend).
Pirate plans to attack Spirit’s herd because a) the neighbouring stallions are considered a threat to him, and b) the herd has the most mares in the entire planes (mostly including escapees from the Band’s previous round ups). He knows Spuro, Spirit’s grandson. He is one of his captains and Spuro is secretly against his ways.
I made the linearts by rendering a screenshot, and no – you can’t use it. I have worked hard on it and I am not an image creator, so any linearts that I make are for my use only. I do not make linearts that are free for use.
I'm having him as a protected character because he is not one of my main characters, but he plays a big enough part in Spuro’s life to have his own page. If you want to draw/render/include him, just send the permission thingy and I'll accept ;)
