Basic Plot

Nickle’s mother was a mare in a herd, while his father was a rogue stallion. When he was born, the lead stallion of the herd could tell that the colt was not his because neither he nor the mare had the blanket markings, so he had inherited it off another stallion. The lead stallion was gracious enough to let the mother and foal become strong enough to take care of themselves before banishing them from his land.
He and his mother roamed the Cimarron happily, eventually moving around the mountains as the years went by and onto the planes. After a winter of terrible weather, she fell ill and died a few days later, leaving four year old Nickle to find a bachelor herd to build up his strength until he could travel home and beat the lead stallion that had kicked them out. He met a few more horses his age and they travelled together before being caught by an early version of the Band. He was trained up in their new defence units and managed to work his way up to a Captain once the previous one died, where he met James and were friends ever since.
He was on guard duty when Spuro wandered into the Band’s territory. James began to get close to him and Nickle followed, knowing that James had a good judgement of character. When Spuro started up his secret group (see Spuro Part 2: Pirates to find out more) James and Nickle decided to join him after finding out, even if it meant their own danger. But as events close in and the group is hunted out, will Nickle be able to stay loyal to his friends, or surrender for his own sake?

Psychological

Loves: To flirt with the mares, relaxing after a long sentry shift
Likes: Organising his troops, telling stories to Cygnus
Dislikes: Sly horses, Van the cougar
Hates: to be punished/blamed for things out of his control

Personality: Nickle knows right from wrong, but usually acts on the hope that his friends won’t be harmed. He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty (metaphorically I guess) if it means he benefits from it, usually in the form of earning a few mares to add to his future herd. He always looks at things in a realistic way, pointing out a flaw in a plan if he spots one. He isn’t the bravest of horses, since he would rather betray his friends than face being killed, but if he can help another without having his own life threatened he will do what he can. He doesn’t know the meaning of romance or love – he just likes the ladies.

His ancestry goes back to Native tribes who bred the horses for their spotted/blanketed coats. The village his great-grandfather came from was a neighbouring village to the Lakota’s, which had been attacked by the army several times, causing some of their livestock to escape. Also, he is friend's with Spuro who is Spirit's grandson.

I made the linearts by rendering a screenshot, and no – you can’t use it. I have worked hard on it and I am not an image creator, so any linearts that I make are for my use only. I do not make linearts that are free for use.

I'm having him as a protected character because he is not one of my main characters, but he plays a big enough part in Spuro’s life to have his own page. If you want to draw/render/include him, just send the permission thingy and I'll accept ;)
