Personality: An extremely calm horse. Unlike most arabians, he isn't afraid of much and is dead calm. Like most Arabians, he is smart and learns quickly. He has a pretty big curiosity and always eager to solve or learn something. He's extremely kind and gentle and always wants peace. He doesn't get mad often but will fight to protect. He's very oblivious to his own skill and even more clueless when it comes to mares.
Likes: Everything he doesn't dislike.
Dislikes: Anyone who is rude, anyone who's unloyal, when something stumps him, his own weaknesses, when something threatens those he cares about.
History: Sham was born in the desert to a powerful Arabic tribe. As the only surviving colt to the tribes greatest stallion, he was trained a great deal and became the Sultan's horse (Sultans are like chiefs). Because of all the training he was put through, he gained many skills and when the horses were left to roam, it was his job to protect the herd. He was very humble about his position in the herd and tribe and loved his life except for when he had to be ridden in the wars against the other nearby tribes. He learned to hate fighting after being the Sultan's warhorse but it did let him learn tricks from the other horses in different places.
Unfortunately, one of the stablehands stole Sham right out of his stall and Sham, recognizing the stablehand, trusted him. The stablehand boarded him onto a boat that took them to America, where the stablehand had heard stories of freedom and a better, new life. Once Sham realized what was happening, he was already on his way out to the west. Sham broke away from the traitor and ran as far and fast as he could in the direction he believed would bring him home.
Instead of finding his way home, Sham found himself at a different kind of tribe: the Lakota's. Since Sham had run for several days already and had barely had anything to eat or drink, he decided to rest at the tribe, hoping that this tribe would be as kind to him as his home tribe. He soon found that he liked the Lakota's tribe much better. They didn't run off into war every other day and they were kind and gentle like he was. The tribe lets him stay and in return, Sham often serves as a lookout and a guard to the other horses (although several just find him and his foreign customs strange). He befriends two other horses his age: Star and Garnet and later on becomes friends with a white buffalo calf named Istas (who he protects).
Relation to Spirit: Best friends with Rain's younger sister and is a part of the Lakota tribe.
