Basic Plot

James' parents were set free into the wild by Spirit when he left the army camp. They had James, but his mother died when he was under a year old because she couldn't defend herself. To stop his son from suffering the same fate, the military minded Quarter Horse taught James how to fight, but he, too, died because he ate a poisonous plant. This was because his parents were meant to be captive horses and they didn't know how to take care of themselves in the wild, like Durango predicted and that's why he stayed at the camp.
James wandered alone for a few days before Pirate found him and took him in. Pirate was driven out of his own herd by his father when he was supposed to inherit the rank of lead stallion. Instead of going back to fight him, Pirate gathered up other rougue stallions and formed his Band - a giant and growing batchelor herd that focussed on harvesting the best fighters and getting rid of the competition.
As a young stallion, Pirate's proposition sounded wonderful to James. Once they had broken up other herds, the plan was to split the mares between the herd members so that they could all be lead stallions. The higher your rank the more mares you got! Because of his earlier training from his father, James quickly surpassed the other horses and became Captain of Deffencive and Offencive units, and has stayed there ever since.
Every year, or 'cicuit', officers are given twenty young horses to train, and captains are given just six. When Spuro was first spotted by James and his friend Nickle on the edge of the Band's territory, he was tested by having to fight a cougar. He did so well at it, Pirate decided that if he could win a fight against another horse he could become the last member of James' class.
Over time James grows fonder to Spuro, and believes that he will do well in the Band.

Hates: To kill his own pupils

Personality: James is a proud stallion who doesn't question the system that has been developed in the Band. He is loyal to his leader and supports his pupils. He is quite a lonely soul, so he distracts himself with fighting so that he doesn't go soft over thinking about his past. Although he was eager to gain his own mares when he first started off in the Band, he has now grown accustomed to the military like style of the herd and he thinks it would be too hard to adjust to having a family of his own at last. He puts all his effort into everything he does and respects the formaility of his home and does not abuse his position. Although he believes in undying loyalty to Pirate, and he hates horses that betray the Band, he still agrees to help Spuro with the *SPOILER* group - even if it means going against his leader. His mind battles over what is right - freedom or loyalty?

I'm having him as a protected character because he is not one of my main characters, but he plays a big enough part in Spuro's life to have his own page. If you want to draw/render/include him, just send the permission thingy and I'll accept ;)
