My name is Aaron. I'm a son of Larkwood and Slingo. My father once promised me the herd when he died, later I would learn it was all lies. All lies that I was dumb enough to believe. One of those lies would break my heart and spirit beyond repair it seemed. Iris, my love, my sweet, gentle, and lovely. I love her with all my little foal heart. But it was not to last it seemed, she came to our herd, suffering from a snake bite, they left her deathly ill and my father was kind enough to save her. But cruel and heartless enough to let her be killed by pumas.

I came back with the herd one day, we went for a run, all but my father and Iris. Only my father came back. I knew something was wrong. I ran up and demanded to know what happened to Iris. "Pumas dragged her off, I killed her for she was weak, I didn't need a weakling in my herd." Larkwood said, snapping at me to back off. I ran back to my mother and stayed away from everyone, even my mother, who became very worried for me. It was pure torture, I was always the popular one among my other siblings, but in my reclusion, I was the least popular, and I didn't care.

I kept in the reclusion till I was a yearling. When I over heard my mother and father having a fight. "I have a right to kick him out of the herd right now! He is a recluse," Father said.

"Well if you didn't kill the filly he loved maybe he wouldn't be Larkwood."Mother said, then she turned and galloped into the group of mares. I snorted and looked over the horizon, away from the others, on a hill. My father walked up to me, and sighed. He looked over the horizon, a glare on his brow. "Look, Aaron, I know you miss her, but it was for the best..." He couldn't finish because I blew up. "You say that about everything! You saved her once, then turned around and killed her! I loved her dad, but all you cared about is nothing! I hate you." And with that, I reared and galloped off.

I never saw the herd again, never wanted too, my father was not what he seemed to be those many months ago. I glared at the horizon, shook my mane and traveled for a year alone. I joined a herd led by a black stallion. Who I never learned the name of. He trained me how to fight and how to lead a real herd. Something my father never taught me how to do. He taught me for a year, when my year was up he did and said something I never would forget. "Son, my time of this earth is coming to an end, you have train hard and you are swift. And remember, stand up for what you believe in, even if that means standing alone."

After that, the stallion and his herd left, and I stayed behind shocked, thinking Did he really just call me son? I wasn't sure how I felt about that. So I took what he said to heart and galloped the other way. I galloped fast and hard, before I knew it I was on my back close to the Lakota tribe, starring like an idiot up at a very familiar mare. I blinked and stood up, blinking more, but the mare never disappeared. I couldn't believe my eyes.

"I-I-Iris?" I stuttered. I was in shock, she was supposed to be dead, but yet here she was standing infront of me! "Hello Aaron, long time no see, huh?" She asked. I nodded, and then really looked at her, she was a humans horse! I snorted and back away from her. "Aaron? Whats wrong?" She asked, hurt flashing in her red eyes. "Your a Pet!" I spat at her, shocked, she was a wild horse once. "Aaron, I came here because I was dragged here, by people, they are really nice." Iris said, lowering her head.

I was appalled, she liked the humans! "How can you like them? They use you!" I said, pawing the ground suddenly very mad at her. Iris looked at me and then sniffled and turned and galloped back into the village, leaving me feeling guilty. I sucked up all my courage and entered the village following her, only to find her being comforted by a human, who took notice of me. He lead Iris to a pin and put her in it, where she stood waiting and he approached me. "Your the stallion who hurt my mare's feelings, huh?" He asked, I layed my ears back ashamed, I didn't mean too.

The feeling of his hand on my cheek made me freeze, I looked at the man startled, only to find him grabbing my mane and leading me over to Iris! I was shocked, then he put me in the pin with her and took her out. I was captured! I glared at them and pawed the ground.  Then I noticed, I was very tired, it was around dusk, I snorted, I wasn't going to sleep in this pin. I lasted about a few hours then I fell asleep.

I woke up with a pile of apples in the pin with me. I blinked and saw Iris and the man, on a hill. Iris was pulling on his hair and running from him. I watched, confusion crossing my features, why was she playing with a human? Then my thoughts figured it out for me, She is tame, and I'm not, I'm wild and I plan to be that way, even if I have to force her to come with me.

I snorted and layed my ears back when the man who I would come to know as Little Creek, came in and tied a rope around my neck, and then led me away from the village on Iris. I fought the whole way. Only to stop when Little Creek dismounted from Iris and led me a little ways away. He took the rope off my neck and said, "Go home, you don't belong here." I layed my ears back and looked at Iris, my deep red eyes pleading. To my utter shock, Iris left with the human, she picked him over me.

I snorted and galloped away, only to find myself back at the village. Only to be chased away again. I walked away defeated, I walked back to the place the stallion and his her used to be, and stood on a hill, the same hill a lead stallion would stand on and look over his herd. I sighed, and looked around, I heard a hoofstep. I looked around, trying to see anything.

Before I knew it, it was chaos. Horses, humans, other animals, where running from loud bangs. I saw Iris, not being ridden by Little Creek go down. I screamed and ran to her, and layed down next to her.
