Long ago in the 1800's My herd was the largest in the plains. I was born early morning, The first thing I saw was my mother her name was Araceli , Her name ment "Altar in the sky." she was a cremellio mare. After I was born and could stand my mother walked me to my father. his name was Alphonso meaning noble and ready. His eyes were a warm and soft brown. A short nicker meant that I had been born and that the wait for me was over. I became a popular foal after the first week of my life and mother had given he the name Esperanza.

Once I grew some more and turned a year old like any other filly I became interested in Colts. Unfortunatly most of the colts were down right immature and wierd to be around. I was tall for my age 16.3 hands high. My chestnut filly coat fell out and I gained a beautiful palomino one. One day danger came. A mountian lion clan came to attack our herd. Then it happened one by one they pick off horses from the cimmiron herd. Once it was over I searched the battle feild looking for my dad.

I came upon a gorish sight of fur and blood. I spooked and closed my eyes, When I opened them again tears started overwhelming my eyes. It was my father his once majestic Dun coat now stained with blood, though he was still alive I cried as if he were gone. then he spoke his last words.

"My dear Esperanza how beautiful you've grown your job now is to find a new leader for the cimmaron herd and yourself a mate I love you dear and I'll always be with you in your heart."

He took his last breath and died peacefully. a while later my herd buiried him I cried for the longest time, But then I remembered his last words."Get a new leader for the cimmaron herd and a mate."

"A mate?" I thought. I was only 2 and needed a lead stallion.

After a few days of my mourning for the loss of my father I decided to search for a Stallion. I searched in the meadow. Nothing. I searched on the prarie. Nothing. I got so tired of looking that I fell asleep by a stream. A couple of moments later hoofbeats awoke me.

I stood up and shook the dust from my coat. There in front of me was a large Stallion.

"Why are you here mare?" he asked me.

"I have a name ." I said annoyed

"Well what is it?" asked the rouge stallion.

"Esperanza." I said in a Royal tone."And yours?" I asked

" Caspin." he said.

Caspin was a 17 hand high stallion. He was a dark bay with a white star and three socks.

"Why are you here?" he asked.

I sighed in embarassment for what I was about to say.

"Looking for a mate." I said.

Caspins expression dropped.

"You see mountain lions attacked my herd we were 18 horses strong now we are 5. My father Alphonso Died protecting his herd and its up to me to find a lead stallion." I said blushing.

Caspin though very thug looking had a kind gentle heart.

"Want to take a walk Eseranza?" he asked.

"Sure." I said.

I stayed around Caspin for a long time we talked and laughed and then somehow he became my mate.

After a few days I took him to the cimmaron herd. I introduced him to my mother, Though she was'nt to happy of whom I picked as the stallion. But soon enough he would change everything. Once again the the pack return but this time it was'nt Mountian lions. It was wolves.

The name Mustang comes from the spanish word Mustengo meaning feral. Our breed is acctually a mish mash of breeds and set wild. Caspin even though he was a mustang, He looked very much like a Budwiser clydesale.

The wolves encircled us.Caspin would have none of it. He reared up and lashed out one by one kicking the wolves in the head, neack, and ribs. After 2 hours of fighting it was all over.

I looked over Caspin not one scratch layed on him, I smiled happy that he was okay and unharmed.

After a while I found out I was going to have a foal. I was so happy. I ran and told Caspin and he was ecstatic prancing around letting eberyone now the big news. Everyday I got hungrier and hungrier, so much so that our herd had to move to a large meadow. Many of the male horses would ask me how such a small horse could eat so much. All the males whom all were like my best friends practically brothers would support me. On the other hand most of the mares would just glare at me Jealous.

One day Lokotas came. Unlike american soliers we trusted these humans. They were kind and gentle with us. One of them was named Destre She was my faveorite. Caspin looked at me as she put the hand made halter around my head.

"Its ok She is very nice her kind come here all the time they are the real ones who started the cimmaron herd." I said as I nuzzled Caspin.

"Hmm Ive never seen you before but Espy sure likes you." said Destre.

Caspin allowed Destre to put a Halter on him. She took us to the lakota village. There was a group of them.

An older lakotan woman came forth. Her name was Lady Cimmaron.

"These two horses have been blessed to have their own young." she said. She turned toward us

She dipped her fingers in paint and made a hope star under my forelock. Under Caspin's a river.

"I bless these two horses in so which that the Cimmaron herd becomes strong once again." she said.

A few weeks later Caspin was in the lakota village helping out Destre, Unfortunatly I went into labor at the same time.

After a 10 mintue long aggonizeing pain streak a sloshy thing fell out I turned and cleaned it and myself. Then I took my first look at my Newborn Foal. He was beautiful. He was a buckskin Colt . I cleaned his face and he nuzzled me then nipped my forelock. I nipped his back then I stood and Grazed. I was suprised when he fed for the first time.

After a while Winter came and I had named my Foal Spirit.
