They fall in line
I was scared my mother left me for my father. Many strange horse where lining up over on the eastern ridge. I was a few weeks old. What did the strange horses want with me
One at a time
One by one they came down from the ridge. moveing closer to me with every step they took. Should I run or stay to find out what they want?
Ready to play
I stood up. I was only about 9 hand high. I leapt up a couple of times to see what they wanted. But they were advanceing to me.
I can't see them anyway
Suddenly all of the horses just suddenly dissappeared. The thundering of hooves suddenly blasted into the air
No Time to loose.
I then got up. But the hoofbeats got louder and louder and louder. Till they were deafing me.
We've got to move.
I obviously could not stay their and wait for mum to come back any longer. I The broke in to a fast gallop. I ran fast and hard, but I could still hear the hoofbeats behind me. The grounds turf changed to rocky sand.
Steady the hand
My hoofs started slipping in the rocky dust. I slowed my pace and then galloped on.
I am looseing site again
I turned around to see if they were behind me any longer. But they where nowhere to be found.
Fire you guns its time to run
Suddenly a large mustange brown in appearace was infront of me. A loud gunshot rang through the air as a man in a blue uniform dismounted his steed and walked up to me. He had a rope in his hand. Without even thinking I once more galloped off.
I will stay unless I may.
A small herd of wild horses let me sleep with them for the night. In the morning All the foals includeing me were left alone out in the open. The adults had left us. A small chesnut filly requested me to lead them.
After the fall, we'll shake it off
The ten or so of us began running. A Golden colord colt around my age becan harassing the others. He was'nt paying attention to where he was going and he fell. And he fell hard.
Show me the way
As he got up he left us saying he'd rather get eaten by a mountian lion than to be around me. As the day turned to night once more we hunkered down in a large group. The colts takeing watch shifts. My short scruffy foal's mane had gotten long enough to lay flat.
Only the strongest will survive
The now 9 of us began on our long journey at dawn. We lost one to a cougar and 2 to ranglers. Now they were 6 of us.
Lead me to heaven when we die
Each foal we lost we gave them a prayer.
I am the shadow on the wall
Throughout the following days we noticed more hoofbeats and shadows following us
I'll be the one to save us all
Soon the golden foal was back and challenged me to fight. The prize was the chestnut filly.
Theres nothing left
We fought all out and then i noticed him limping.
So save your breath
I told him to stop before he got hurt even more. But he kept fighting me
Lying awake
I had beaten him to the point of no return. He was no longer able to stand anymore.
Caught inside this tidal wave
My group and I left them. It began to rain very heavily. we lost 2 more foals in the storm. It was now me, The chestnut filly and 4 other foals.
Your covers blown
The morning after The man in the uniform was back.
Nowhere to go
He had cornered us and we had nowhere to run to get away
Steady your fate
The two others chose their fate and ran.
Only me and the chesnut filly remained
Only I will walk alone
That night we saw a buckskin stallion. Walking down across the plain. He was alone with no one else.the filly and I pondered what he was doing out here all by himself. We soon realized that the stallion had a herd following close behind him. The filly and I advanced to them
Fire your guns
Once more gunshot rang through the air around us
It's time to run
Me,The filly and the stallion and his herd ran off as hard as we could
Blow me away
The man in the uniform was closing in on us. But the herd was 30 strong and the adults kept me and the filly safe. Though we were foals we had mangaged to keep up with them. We were closer to the lead stallion for more protection. The man in blue let off of us and left. That night i stared up at the sky to wonder were my mum and dad went. Were all the foals went and why this all happened. All I can say is it all Blew me Away
