Vitani looked out over the Pride Lands. It had been a week since the outlanders had joined the Pridelanders, and Vitani was relieved that everything had gone well. Almost everything, that is. She couldn't stop thinking about her mother. Or at least, who she thought her mother was. A few weeks before his death, Nuka had told her something she couldn't quite understand. As she walked down the pathway, she saw Nala coming toward her. "Vitani, we need to talk," she said. "It's about your mother." "What about her?" asked Vitani. She wanted to know all she could about her mother, and was very willing to listen to Nala. "Well," Nala continued, "Did you ever feel that, since you looked so different, you didn't belong?" "Well yeah," replied Vitani. Then she proceeded to tell Nala what Nuka had told her; "It was just a few weeks before his death. . .
"We were hunting for something edible when we came to a water hole. As we drank, I noticed how different our reflections were. So I asked Nuka 'Nuka, why do we look so different? We're siblings.' And he said to me 'You just don't know, do you? Vitani, everything you know is a lie. We're not siblings, and we never have been.' What did he mean Nala?"
"Well. . ." began Nala. "When Scar was king and Simba was gone, Scar tried to force me to mate with him. When I refused, he made a deal with me. He said that I could mate Tojo so long as he could name the cub and as soon as the cub was born, it became his property. So after Simba came back and Scar was killed by the hyenas, Simba banished all of Scar's followers, Zira took you and raised you along side of Nuka and her adopted son, Kovu. Vitani, I'm you're mother, not Zira."
Vitani gasped. She was astonished. Why hadn't anyone told her? "I have to tell Kiara!" she said. "She already knows," said Nala.
A few weeks later, Vitani had a dream. She was in the jungle, and Kopa was there. They were near a water fall, and then, suddenly, she fell.
She awakened with a jolt. As she looked out the cave's entrance, she realized it was dawn. The rest of the lions were starting to awaken as well. Vitani started to walk over to Kiara. "Hey Kiara," she said. "Do you know where the jungle is?" "THE JUNGLE?!" exclaimed Kiara. "Why would you want to go there?!" "Um, an old friend of mine lives there." Vitani replied.
"Well, if you need to get to the jungle so badly, you gotta go through the brambles just outside of the desert of the Rouge Lands. Cross the dessert and your there."
"Thanks; Sister."
"No problem; Sister."
So Vitani told Simba and Nala where she was going. "I'll be back soon," she said. "I promise." "Goodbye, 'Tani. Take care."
"Goodbye; Mom."
So off she went. Through the brambles and the desert. Eventually she found the jungle, and started searching for the waterfall. Then, a leopard jumped out in front of her. "Well, a lion in the jungle," she said. "What are YOU doing here?"
"I-I'm looking for the water fall. An old friend lives there." Vitani answered.
"Oh," said the leopard. "I'm assuming you mean the golden lion. I think his name was Kopa."
"Yes! That's him!" Vitani exclaimed. "So where's the water fall?"
"Go over by those vines, then take a left. You'll see the beautiful water fall there," replied the leopard. "Usually, around this time, Kopa is out swimming. If your lucky, you should be able to catch him before he's done."
"Thanks!" said Vitani. So she started walking toward the vines.
When she got to the water fall, she couldn't believe her eyes; there, in the water, was that golden lion she knew as a cub. "Kopa?"
"Vitani? Is that you?" said the Lion.
"YES! YES! It's me Kopa!" Vitani cheered, running toward him. "How did you find me?" asked Kopa. "I-I had a dream," said Vitani. "I dreamed that you were in the jungle, and there was a water fall there too. So I thought I might find you here"
"Wow," said Kopa. "I had a dream about you too! We were walking through the desert, and we saw this dark, scrawny lion in the distance running toward us." "Kopa, do you realize what this means?" Vitani exclaimed. "We can go home now! YOU can go home now!"
"That reminds me, how ARE things back home?' Kopa asked.
"Everything is just PERFECT! Your older sister Kiara has married Kovu, and our pride has joined your pride! The only bad news is, we can't marry."
"What?! But WHY?!"
"Because we're siblings. Half siblings, anyway. Kopa, Nala is my mother!"
"Really?! But how?!"
"While Simba was gone, Nala made a deal with Scar." Vitani started; then continued to tell him what Nala had told her. "Whoa," said Kopa. "That's wild. But at the same time, not all that crazy. I mean, you look a lot like her, and also, you're the only outlander with that cute little pink nose. And do I even have to mention your blue eyes?" "Yeah, whatever," replied Vitani. "Let's just get out of here. What do say?" "I say you're right. Let's go home."
As they were walking through the desert, they saw the silhouette of something in the distance. As they got closer, it appeared to limping, but coming toward them at a fast pace. As he got closer, Vitani thought he looked kind of familiar. 'No,' thought Vitani. 'It can't be.' But as he got closer, she saw who it was. "Nuka?"
"'Tani?" the lion asked.
"What are you doing here?" asked Vitani. "I thought you were dead! I see you've grown more of mane." "Yes," said Nuka. "I'm looking for a pride. I thought you guys had abandoned me!" "Oh Nuka," Vitani said. "We'd never abandon you. I love you." "Aw, thanks sis," Nuka said. "Hey, is that. . . Kopa?" "Yes," replied Vitani. "We're going home. The prides have joined forces, and everything is good now." "But what about Mom?" Nuka asked. "What happened to her?" "She's gone," Vitani sighed. "She fell of a cliff into the river. Kiara tried to help her, but she was too late." "Oh," Nuka said. "Well, can I come with you?" "Yes." Viitani answered.
After days of walking through the desert, they finally made it back to the Pride Lands."'Tani! You're back!" Nala exclaimed. "Is that Nuka? And. . . Kopa?" "Yes," said Kopa. "It is me, Mom." "Oh Kopa!" Simba said. "It's been so long!" "I know," Kopa replied. "But I'm home now."
So Kopa married one of the lionesses he had know as a cub. her name was Auna, and she was a beautiful cream color. Nuka married Dotty, and 'Tani met a wonderful lion. she also became one of the best hunters in the Pride, and food was plentiful with her and Nuka around. So I guess you could say everything turned out pretty great.
