Part I

The Pridelands

"Uru, lead this pride with greatness and responsibility," wheezed a dying Mohatu. "Leave here, and live somewhere more plentiful."

Uru watched her father sadly as life began to slowly fade from him. She nodded. "I... I will."

"You are just like your mother Uru. She would've been proud..."

"I know."

Mohatu winced, and Uru averted her eyes, not wanting to see her father struggle in his last moments. Eventually his body stopped moving and his breathing ceased. When this happened, Uru turned her head and studied her father. He looked peaceful, even in death. Mohatu was the oldest lion living in Africa, and in his fading days, was dying slowly from old age. His loving mate and Uru's mother, Thema, had passed away long ago.

Uru leaned forward and nuzzled her face into her father's mane. She could smell his scent. It would be a bit before the smell of death crept upon Mohatu's corpse. "Goodbye, father," she said. She was reluctant to turn her head to her father, her idol and her guardian lion, but there was nothing to say no more. He had passed on to the King's Court and there he would be reunited with Thema.

Uru got up and went back to her pride to announce her father's passing. Now she was the leader of this pride.

"Everyone!" she said loudly and clearly once she got close to them. Every lioness turned their head towards her. "My father has passed on into the afterlife! There is nothing left for us here!"

Amongst the lionesses, there were murmurs and some were upset to be leaving. They had known about the plan though. Much earlier, Mohatu had announced his intentions to move the pride somewhere with a more resourceful amount of food. However, he had fallen ill and he could not go forward with his plans before he died. So now it was Uru's duty to move the pride elsewhere so that they wouldn't starve out here.

"Uru, must we move?" inquired one of the lionesses.

"Are you blind?" growled Uru. "There is nothing left for us here! We must move on! That was Mohatu's wish!" It felt strange for Uru to use her father's real name, but now he was not just a father. No, now he was a king. A king to be remembered forever and always.

"But can we at least... mourn for great Mohatu?" asked another lioness.

"No! He would not have wanted us to be concerned about him. He wanted us to move forward. He was a great king and a magneficient father, but now he has left our home and has gone to live with Thema and his ancestors. We shall obey his wishes and not dwell on his death!"

The lionesses, however, continued to murmur amongst themselves. Uru grew frustrated. She knew these lionesses respected her, so it was not a matter of hesitation now that Uru was the leader. No, they were afraid. They had lived in this place for a long time, and they were now especially afraid because Mohatu was no longer with them. However, Uru was not going to deal with this hesitation anymore. She let out a thunderus roar that shut every lionesses' mouth.

"Listen to me!" roared Uru. "Mohatu is dead! Do you not want to fufill his dying wish?"

The lionesses all looked at one another. Of course they wanted to fufill his wish! But seeing the point Uru was getting across to them, they stopped their own little chatter between each other and focused all eyes on Uru. "We will find somewhere wonderful to live!" said Uru. "It will be our land! We have families. We will rule over our own land! We have start anew!"

The lionesses roared in response.

"We mustn't continue to stay here! If we do, we will die meaninglessly!"

"We will move!" roared the lionesses.

"I am not Mohatu," said Uru. "I will try to be the best Queen to you all that I can be. But I am no Mohatu, and I shall never want to follow his path, for the path he chose was his own and his only! But I will try to be a good ruler to you all!"

"Hail Queen Uru!"

Uru felt herself rise as the lionesses chanted her name around her. She felt so proud, and she wondered if her father did too. Not wanting to waste time, Uru hurried them to pay their respects quickly to Mohatu before leaving. Though she did not want them to mourn his passing, paying him respect was different and that she would allow. They made their wishes and prayers quick, and then followed after Uru as they began to make the trek for a new home.

For three days, the sun rose and set, and Uru and her pride did not slow down. They did stop by a small watering hole to drink up before heading out, and when they saw potential prey on the terrain, they gave chase. Their only food source, so far, had been a grown Oryx that had caused them trouble to get. But for the chance to have something to fill their stomaches, it was worth it.

Problems soon began to rise, though, when the lionesses went into heat. Uru, though in heat herself, kept a perimeter around her pride in order to make sure that not one of them snuck off to find a rogue male to mate with. Her father wanted tradition running through their pride. Only the pride male was allowed to father cubs with the females. Not a rogue.

Uru often did see the males scoping them out as she led them on their journey. If the males got too close, Uru and her lioness sisters would swat at them viciously with their claws until the males backed up and left. It was tiring, and the lionesses were getting restless.

One night, as they were resting. Uru slacked in her duties. Though the other lionesses tried to remain as pure as possible, two lionesses snuck off into the night. When morning arrived, the two sneaky lionesses were back within in their pride before Uru even noticed, now instead carrying someone's cub inside them. Uru continued to keep a perimeter around the lionesses as they continued forth with their journey.

For many days and nights, the lioness pride continued to travel onward, their determination set in their minds. Though their once-full figures were becoming skinny, they focused on the task of finding a home before finding food. Their wishes and determination finally paid off, though, when they found a wonderful place. Ahead of them stood a large boulder, triangular but large, and something they have never seen before. Around it, there was life. Mammals were grazing and minding their own business. The lionesses became anxious and excited, but Uru told them to stay put while she examined the area. Looking around, she didn't notice any other lions living here, and when she checked for scent markers, she found none.

The lionesses trotted over to her, anxious for her response. Uru looked around the area and then studied her sisters's faces. She smiled. "Welcome home."

Pride Rock was what Uru had officially titled their new home. They had an abundant supply of food, but work needed to be down for Uru. She went around and communicated with the animals, passing them on the teachings her father had taught her: The lionesses would only hunt the older ones of the mammals and leave the young ones to grow. They have no issue sharing the land with the mammals and would stay out of their way and mind their own business if the mammals agreed to do the same. It was work for Uru, establishing almost diplomatic-like relationships with each and every breed of mammal. The mammals agreed to live alongside the lionesses, and agreed to Uru's plan, and once their diplomatic disccusion was over, they went back to their business of feeding.

Uru examined the territory to make sure no rogue males entered. The females were still in heat, and they could not risk having a lion invade their home, much less make himself 'comfortable' around here.

Uru's nose flared as her eyes studied her surroundings. So far nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. She made her way down a small trail but felt as though she was being watched. The stomping of hooves warned Uru to get out of the way and once she did, a gazelle appeared. Uru watched it run off and as she was about to resume her examination, she felt a big force knock into her side. She rolled onto the ground, her side now hurting because of the sudden impact. She rolled onto her paws and saw next to her a rogue lion.

The lioness snarled and lunged at the male, who was still shaky from the sudden impact that he didn't have enough time to react. Uru pinned him to the ground and practically shoved her face on his. "Get out of here!" she snarled.

The male was hesitant and as Uru looked him deep in the eyes, she didn't see any dark intents in him. However, she was not about to let him go scott free. She got off of him, and the male stared at him.

"What're you doing here in my territory?" growled Uru.

"Your territory?" said the male. "Where's the pride lion?"

"I'm the head lioness here."

"Head lioness?" The male rolled his eyes. "You're not that scary."

Uru made a threatening step forward towards the male. "Wanna say that again?"

The male stopped being cocky. "Okay, okay! I'm sorry! I didn't know this was someone's territory. I was hunting okay?"

"Yeah right."

"It's the truth!"

"I don't believe you."

The male sighed. "You don't have to believe me-"

"And I won't," said Uru stubbornly. She needed to protect her sisters from this male. "You only came here because we are in heat."

"No!"

"Yes, that's definitely the reason."

"Did you not see me chasing the gazelle?"

"I think that was just a joke so that you wouldn't be caught just crawling around and waiting for your chance to grab a female."

"You make me sound like a bad guy." The male stood proud. "And I'm certainly not one."

"How do I know that? I don't even know you!"

"Honestly, I don't want to know you. You got a foul mouth."

"And you're a cocky male."

"I don't have to take this."

"Good. So leave."

The male snorted. "I will!" And he walked off, but not before looking over his shoulder as if to see if Uru changed her mind. She didn't. He sighed and stalked off. Uru's nose flared. That was too close. She'd have to get more females out on patrol.

Uru snorted and turned her back on the male lion, though cautiously as she did not trust that the male had gone away entirely. She was hesitant to just leaving him to walk on his own because she did not know if he would abide by his word and leave entirely. However, there was not much she could do and she was not about to give chase. She made her way back home.

Life on Pride Rock was great. The lionesses praised Uru for her selection in their new home, and Uru basked in the attention and praise she was getting. It made her feel good, and it made her feel like she did well as a leader. Even though it had only been a month so far, it had been a good time for the lionesses. The food supply was steady and fulfilling, and there had been no encounters with other rogue lions. Uru had seen no sign of the one rogue male she had bumped into either.

Things were going great.

But little did they know that things would soon get worse. Very quickly.

One month after they made Pride Rock their new home, Uru and the lionesses quickly detected something going wrong with the mammals. The population size began growing smaller and smaller, and sometimes when she went out to check the perimeters of the territory, Uru would often find the boney carcass of an animal. Not only that, but Uru also noticed the heat beginning to rise, and the percipitation came a rare sight, and only then it would be a few droplets of rain before moving on.

The lionesses became worried. They had left their old home because of this problem. Pride Rock was lucious and full of life.

Now Pride Rock was falling victim to the drought that was consuming the African sarangehti.

When it became known that it was a drought, the lionesses quickly took Uru aside and began bombarding her with questions about what they were going to do. "We can't leave here!" "This is our new home Uru!" "Why is this happening?" And the questions kept on coming and coming until Uru silenced them.

"Listen to me!" said Uru. "We will not leave Pride Rock. This is our home to stay! It's now a known fact that if we tried finding a new home, it wouldn't work because we cannot outrun this drought! The only thing we can do is make it through it and hope that it will be a short one."

Though the lionesses were hesitant to agree with Uru's statement, nonetheless they did say that she was right. They all knew where they lied. They would have to take on the drought full force and hope the rain season would come soon.

After that, Uru went on her usual routine of checking the territory. There were still some mammals that stayed, so Uru knew they wouldn't go hungry just yet. As she patroled she heard the muffled cries of a gazelle whining and calling for help. Following the cries, she found herself facing the culprit again. "What're you doing back here?!" she snarled as she lunged forth and swatted his face.

The lion that Uru had encountered a month earlier, stepped back away from her. He was startled from her sudden attack. The gazelle, still alive, but barely, mananged to roll onto its legs and run off. The lion made an attempt to go after it, but Uru cut him off.

"Get out of here!" she snarled.

"W-Wait!" stuttered the lion. "How about we come to a compromise? I didn't mean to hunt your ki-"

"Have you been here before?"

"W-What? No I-" He cut himself off quickly when he saw Uru's eyes become slits. He sighed. "Yeah I've been hanging around. But you don't understand! This is the worst drought I've seen yet! The other lions are seeking competition with each other! It's everyone for themselves!"

"I'm not going to pity you. You don't belong here. And I think I should take off your head for stealing our food."

"Wait wait! What about my compromise?" The male lion took a step back when Uru moved closer to him.

"I don't make deals with thieves."

"B-But look! You have to understand that we're in a very bad situation here! I'm telling you, these lions are breaking it off with their own prides and going out of their way to steal from others-"

"Much like yourself? Do you not have any pride?"

The lion growled. "Of course I have pride! But I'm desperate! Please, lend a favor to a brother. I promise I won't mess around with the lionesses. I just need a place to stay that's stable."

Uru mulled the offer in her head. She still didn't want to give him that chance, but her father taught her to love and respect her fellow lions and lionesses, and treat them as how she would want to be treated. Though she did not agree with her father's stance in this kind of situation, she still couldn't find it in her heart to tell this lion no. He was definitely not in the worst of shape, what with having a good build and a full belly from taking some of her food. However, he was dirty and ugly-looking.

"What's your name?" she asked him. What am I getting myself into? she thought.

The lion's face perked up a bit. "I'm Ahadi. And yours?"

"Uru, the head lion-"

"Yes I know, head lioness of this pride. "

Uru narrowed her eyes. "You're lucky I'm deciding to be generous here, or otherwise I would get my lionesses down here to rip you to shreds."

"Hey I believe it," said Ahadi. "But I promise you, I won't fool around with them. It's past that season right?"

"I think you can tell for yourself."

"Oh... Okay then. But I swear I won't!"

"If I find out you do..." Uru growled.

Ahadi didn't need her to finish that threat. He quickly nodded. "I understand! Can I please just stay here?"

Uru sighed and her head fell slightly. "Very well. I can't find it in my heart to turn a fellow lion away like this."

Ahadi grinned. "Thank you so muc-"

"Wait! But you can only stay until the drought season is over!" said Uru. "Once this drought ends, you're gone."

"Oh..." Ahadi frowned, clearly disappointed. "Okay fine then. I'll go once this drought is over."

"Good. And don't try to worm yourself into our hearts. You're merely a guest, not a friend."

"A guest can be a friend!" said Ahadi. Uru, now uninterested, turned from him and began to walk away. Ahadi chased after her. "Well can I be your friend? Or your adviser even? Hey what about..."

"Shut up."

"Okay."

When Uru brought Ahadi back, the lionesses were shocked to see a male accompany their leader. All this time they knew that she was not crazy about letting a male join the group, but to see her come home with one, made them upset.

One of the lionesses approached her. "Uru, what is a male doing here? I thought you said-"

"He's only staying for the drought season," growled Uru. She turned around to fully face her pride and roared, "And I want no one to let this male use his charm on you!"

Ahadi kept his head low. "Hey I said I wasn't..."

But Uru snorted and went inside her den. Ahadi made the attempt to follow, but Uru quickly saw this and chased him out. Disgruntled, Ahadi found a shadier place to rest for a while. The lionesses looked from one to another, seemingly hesitant on whether or not the male was friendly. However, because they were afraid that Uru would bite their heads off if they tried to converse with him, they decided against going up to him and made their way into the den.

Ahadi watched them go and felt his eyes rolling. What have I gotten myself into? He laid his head down and sighed. Maybe it was better to starve...

As day faded into night, the heat did not give up, even though it was much cooler once the sun had set. When morning came, the heat came back in full force, and it shocked Ahadi when he woke up from his sleep and found himself feeling even hotter than he felt yesterday. "Damn heat wave..." He yawned and stretched, and saw that Uru doing the same before starting her patrol. He decided to follow her.

However, Uru was not looking forward to the company.

"Hey Uru," greeted Ahadi as he followed her down the rock. Uru ignored him. Frowning to himself, Ahadi tried again. "Hey, why are you giving me the cold shoulder now?"

Uru stopped suddenly. "Why don't you go bug someone else?"

Ahadi grumbled. "Fine then." He walked away while Uru sighed. Finally I can get some work done...

It was mid-afternoon when Ahadi returned to Uru's side. He seemed more pleasant than he did earlier. Uru, on the other hand, was more aggrivated. And she was not looking forward to his company. When he sat next to her underneath the shade, Uru looked away.

"Hey, you need to relax," said Ahadi.

"What kind of greeting is that?" snapped Uru. She still wouldn't look at him.

That didn't really seem to bother Ahadi. He only wanted to make a point. "Look, you're overworking yourself. Haven't you ever heard of fun?"

"Fun?" Uru turned her head to Ahadi. "I'm too old to have fun."

"No you're not-"

"Besides I have responsibilities. You might be able to have fun, but I cannot."

"And why not? I don't see why you can't take the day off to relax and enjoy yourself."

"Because I have a territory to run! I can't take a break! I'm doing what's best for everyone, and if it means I drop dead doing my job, then so be it."

"Jeez don't work yourself to death."

"Besides, why does it matter to you if I relax?"

"We're all concerned Uru. I know I know, you've only known me for a day or two but listen... the other lionesses were saying-"

"Wait you were with the lionesses?" Uru gathered herself to her paws and glared at Ahadi.

Ahadi shook his head. "No no not like that! I'm a lion of my word remember? No, I'm just saying, I was with the other lionesses and they're being to become... annoyed with you."

"Annoyed?"

"They want you to relax. Your attitude has been getting very sour. Here I have a suggestion-"

"No."

"You haven't even heard it yet."

"And I know I won't like it. No."

Ahadi ignored that. "Here, why don't I take over patrol for a while. A month maybe? That way you can relax and be less... aggressive to all of us. What do you say?"

"I think that's... an absolutely stupid idea. No. I am the queen and I have my duties to fufill."

"Uru, why won't you let anyone help you? The other lionesses were telling me that they'd gladly help you out if you asked them. But you want them to sit around all day and they're getting bored. They want to help you. But you insist on doing this all by yourself." Ahadi could clearly see how much angrier Uru was getting with him but he stood his ground. "Here I'll take over and you go relax."

"No."

"Please-"

"Besides why does it concern you? A rogue lion?"

"Look, I'm trying to be friendly and try and work things out here. Just... let me take over patroling for a month and then you can get back to work."

Uru growled loudly and began to pace back and forth. Her thoughts were conflicted. Had she really been behaving poorly? Maybe she was judging this lion too much... But she was the queen! She needed to defend her turf and patrol, not some mangy male!

"Uru, I promise I'll do a good job," said Ahadi. "It's the least I can do since you allowed me to stay here."

Uru stopped pacing and sighed. "Fine then... tomorrow you can-"

"No."

"What?"

"I'll finish the rest of your patrol." Ahadi sounded firm and final. In a way it reminded Uru of her father. She prepared herself to argue against Ahadi but she sighed, feeling defeated.

"Okay then... You can finish partrol." Uru began to make the trek back to Pride Rock.

"I won't let you down Uru!" called Ahadi.

Uru sighed. She was burnt out for the day. But when she was about to enter her den, every lioness seemed to have a bone to pick with her.

"Uru why are you so mean to Ahadi?" asked one of the lionesses.

Uru stopped before entering the den and sighed. "Why does it matter if I do?"

"He's very nice," piped up another lioness. "He was telling us jokes."

"I don't want him coming onto you guys-"

"He doesn't. He's very respectful. Honestly Uru, that's the least important thing on his mind."

"Yeah..."

One of the lionesses, one of the two who had snuck away from the pride during mating season, stepped forward. Her belly wasn't too noticeable yet. "Honestly Uru, we feel that you're being way too hard on him. He's a very nice guy and he really respects you."

Uru was surprised by this. "He... respects me?"

"Yeah," said the lioness. "He thinks you're a very good leader, but feels you have a foul-temper and treat him unfairly. And so do we."

"We think you're being too mean to us."

Uru listened to all these complaints, though they were all mainly directed at Ahadi.

"And we're frustrated," continued the sneaky lioness, "because you never want us to do anything. You keep to yourself and force us to sit around all day. If Mohatu was still there-"

"Don't!" said Uru. "Don't bring up my father..."

"Uru... I think your father would be disappointed in you."

Your father would be disappointed in you... This remark caught Uru off guard. She didn't know how to react, but she couldn't take staring down her sisters when they were all looking at her, awaiting a response from her. "I... I'm going to do inside," sighed Uru as she walked inside the den. None of the other lionesses followed after her.

After sundown, Ahadi returned to the rock, hot and exhausted. But he did his job, just as he had promised Uru. Now he was beginning to understand the responsibility of being a leader. It was tough just keeping an eye on the territory. Ahadi had to chase away a male lion who was attracted to the smell of a dead calf. Not wanting to waste the meal, Ahadi took it back with him. The lionesses came up to greet him, and Ahadi laid down the corpse of the calf.

"It was dead when I was on duty," he told them. He looked around, seeing someone wasn't there. "Where's Uru?"

"She went out," said one of the lionesses. "She didn't say where."

Ahadi frowned. "You didn't go after her."

"Honestly she has such a temper, that yeah we didn't want to go."

He sighed. "Where'd she go? I'll find her."

"Ahadi, don't waste your breath," said another lioness. "You know she'll just chase you away."

"Where'd she go?" he repeated.

"Out the back."

While the lionesses moved in to lunch on the body, Ahadi began following Uru's scent. She had gone out from behind the rock. When Ahadi finally found her sitting beside a small dying pool of water, he realized how sad she looked. "Hey," he said, trying not to surprise her as he took a spot next to her.

Uru did not look at him, nor did she respond to him.

"I did good on my patrol," said Ahadi. "A male lion tried to get in but I chased him off. He was going after a dead calf. I, uh, took the food and gave it to everyone. You want some before they eat it all?"

Uru still kept quiet.

Ahadi frowned. Something must've happened after she left. He leaned over and looked at her face. She seemed to not even notice him. Her eyes were dully pinned on the water and she did not blink. Ahadi waved his paw in her face, but she still did not notice him.

"Come on Uru, what's wrong?" he asked her. He nudged her with his paw, but she did not say anything. She didn't need to either. After he nudged her, her face began moving again. Her eyes were glistening and she was shuddering, looking as though to prevent herself from crying in front of him. Ahadi was shocked by this. He never invisioned Uru to ever be in an emotional state like this.

Tears began rolling down Uru's face as she began stuttering, "I-I'm a f-failure..."

"No!" said Ahadi. "No your not!"

"Y-Yes I a-am. I-I wanted to b-be like my d-dad. And n-now everyone h-hates me..."

"Uru, that's not the attitude of a leader. Did what everyone say really hurt your feelings?"

Uru shook her head. "No..." She finally seemed to get herself together. She sighed. "But they've made me realize that I've been a fool..." She turned to Ahadi. "I've been judging you too hard."

Ahadi was a bit shocked. Personally he thought he was never going to expect a sorry from Uru. To hear this now... he was very shocked needless to say.

Uru stood up. "I'm... sorry Ahadi."

"Uru..."

"The other lionesses did have a point.  I have been too harsh. But I'm worried about this drought. I just want to see it end. But that's no excuse on my part to be rough to everyone else, especially to you."

"Listen-"

But Uru cut him off immediately. "I'm sorry Ahadi. I know I went too far now. Forgive me."

Though he was still shocked by what she was saying, what she was admitting, he couldn't help but smile. He took his paw and placed it down on top of hers. "I forgive you."

Uru looked up at him and smiled. Ahadi had to admit, she had a beautiful smile when she used it.

"Come on," said Ahadi. "Let's go back."

"Okay." Walking alongside Ahadi, Uru returned to Pride Rock. The other lionesses were skeptical when they saw her, but when Ahadi declared what had happened, they warmly accepted her back. Uru went on apologizing to each and every one of them, taking full responsibility for her actions and admitting that she was wrong and too harsh in her judgments.

Life steadily went back to normal after that. Keeping to his word, Ahadi patrolled for the month while Uru relaxed with the others, sometimes even taking them out hunting. The drought was troublesome, but a shocking discovery happened by the end of the month. Dark clouds began rolling into the area. From where he was patrolling, Ahadi raised his head, and he could sense the moisture in the air. Not long after, it began to pour tremendously. The other lionesses came running from the rock, and began playing in the rain. Ahadi joined them, engaging them in fun games. When he saw that Uru was not with them, however, he broke away to go find her.

He saw Uru sitting at the entrance of the den. He went up to her, smiling wide and dripping something awful. "Hey," he greeted as he took a spot next to her.

"It's finally raining," she said warmly. "I can't believe it... the drought's finally over."

"Yeah, and we made it!"

"We did." Then Uru frowned. "But..."

"What's-? Oh..." Ahadi remembered too. He gave Uru his word that, when the drought season was over, he would leave the pride.

"You don't have to leave," said Uru, her voice taking on a different tone. It was softer and more... Ahadi couldn't put his paw on it, but it sounded more... beautiful to him.

"I... don't?" he asked, a bit surprised that Uru would suggest that.

Uru turned her head to him and smiled. Ahadi stared lovingly at her smile. She's so beautiful... "No, you don't have to leave," she said.

"But you didn't want me here."

"Yeah, well... I've kinda grown attached to you."

Ahadi was speechless by this. Smiling at this, Uru took advantage of this by giving him a tender nuzzle. Still frozen with shock, Ahadi did not react to this. It was only when Uru pulled away, circled him a few times, and then trotted inside the den that Ahadi reacted. He got up and followed her inside the den.

No one seemed to notice their absence.

Long before the celebrated births of Queen Uru's and King Ahadi's cubs, two unexpected births came. Two lionesses, the same two lionesses who had been sneaky and went off during the mating season, had given birth, each to an individual cub who bared the similarity of her half-sister. One was darker-colored than the other, and she was the oldest. Her name was Sarabi, and her half-sister Sarafina.

Uru had been disappointed to find that two of her lionesses had in fact snuck off and kept this secret from her all this time. However, she could not bear to issue punishment to them. Mohatu, disappointed though he would've been, would've accepted the cubs, regardless of who their father was. Wanting to follow her father's path, Uru accepted the cubs into the pride warmly.

The next birth was one from Uru who bore two cubs into the world. She had given birth away from the pride, doing just what every other lioness would do. Her cubs were beautiful. They were both males. For six weeks, Uru kept them away from the pride, in fear that it would be too soon to introduce them to the others. Once her two cubs were big enough and able to walk on their own, Uru led them back to the pride.

Introducing the cubs to the lionesses was essential first. Uru had no need to worry about them, for the lionesses quickly accepted the two male cubs into their clan. Then it came to introducing them to Ahadi, and for this Uru was slightly concerned about. However, just like what had happened with the lionesses, Uru found that she didn't have anything to worry about. Ahadi warmly accepted his cubs, and his cubs seemed to recognize Ahadi was their father figure and so they quickly introduced themselves to him.

"Oh Uru, they're beautiful," said Ahadi proudly as he nuzzled his queen.

"I haven't named them yet," she said. "I was hoping that we'd name them together..."

"Which one is the oldest?"

Uru nudged her paw at the tawny yellow male. He meowed, and bravely began trying to start a battle with his mother's paw. The younger male, the darker brown colored one, meowed quietly, not having his older brother's courageous behavior.

"Mufasa," declared Ahadi almost immediately. "It means king, and I can definitely see a king in him."

Uru smiled and rolled her tongue over her young cub, now declared Mufasa. Ahadi turned his attention to the younger brother. "How about... Ahadi Jr?" he said jokingly.

Uru rolled her eyes playfully. "No way. How about..." Uru carefully thought all the names she could in her head. "Taka?"

Ahadi smiled. "So beautiful Uru." He nuzzled her. "Just like you."
