Nala looked around she was bored with nothing to do, "Nala sweetie what's wrong?" Nala sighed, "nothing mum." Sarafina sat by her daughter and nuzzled her, "Nala I know something is wrong but tell me during you bath." Nala rolled her eyes, "oh mum not another bath!" Sarafina smiled, "yes another bath." Nala lay down ready for her bath. Sarafina lay down by Nala and started licking her. "So...whats...bothering...you...Nala?" Sarafina asked between licks, Nala sighed, "well mum I'm lonely I have no friends and I know no lions." Sarafina frowned, "well...why...don't we go to...Pride Rock...tommorow...and see...if there's...any cubs...there?" Sarafina suggested, Nala thought for a moment, "yes ok can we?" Sarafina smiled, "well I wouldn't have suggested it if it was a lie." Sarafina smiled, Sarafina then finished cleaning Nala and gently picked her up in her mouth. "Anyway it's time for bed." Nala went and lay on her usual warm soft bed of leaves. "Goodnight Nala." Sarafina smiled. Nala yawned and fell into a deep slumber.
As the first stars appeared in the sky and everyone was asleep
there was a rumble in the trees. Nala awoke with a start terrified of the sound. "Mum!!" Nala cried, Sarafina yawned, "it's really late Nala what's wrong?" Nala scanned the trees, "I've just heard a sound in the trees." Sarafina looked to were Nala was scanning, "it was probably your imagination, go back to sleep."Sarafina yawned, Nala reluctantly obeyed her mother and went back to sleep. Sarafina had one last sweeping look then went back to sleep herself. There was one problem though, Nala hadn't been imagining things and a dark figure crept over to the small family and grabbed Nala. Nala felt a rough hand round her waist and she woke quickly. She was being carried to a big four wheeled object, "MUM!!!!" Nala cried as she tried to bite her kidnappers hand. "MUM!!!!" Nala shouted again, no reply Nala began to cry as she was threw roughly into a wooded crate and locked in, Nala buried her head into
her paws and began to cry again, warm tears streamed down her small face. The four wheeled object Nala and been thrown onto gave a roar like thunder and began to drive away. There was no escape now, Nala was trapped.
When morning came Sarafina awoke and turned to wake her daughter, but the leaf bed was empty, "Nala?" Sarafina cried hoping her daughter would jump out and begin to play with her mum, no-one came, "Nala!!" Sarafina cried. Sarafina jumped up and raced to Pride Rock, "Sarabi, Mufasa!!" Sarafina cried as she pounced onto Pride Rock, "Sarafina thank goodness your here. Mufasa has called a meeting for all lions in his pride." Sarabi said Sarafina began to sob. "Sarafina whats wrong?" Sarabi asked, "it's...it's Nala...she's gone." Sarabi looked worried, "Mufasa come here a minute!" Sarabi shouted Mufasa stalked over closely followed by a cub. "What is it Sarabi?" Mufasa asked, "it's Nala she's gone, Sarafina can't find her!" Sarabi said, Mufasa looked horrified, "I knew it. Sarafina did you hear any noises last night?" Sarafina shook her head, "Nala said she heard a noise in the trees though." She stammered, Mufasa suddenly looked worried, "Sarafina that noise Nala heard was humans." Mufasa explained, Sarafina's eyes filled with tears. "No! Nala can't have been kidnapped." She wailed, Sarabi nuzzled Sarafina in a comforting way, "it's alright Sarafina, we'll find her, I'm sure." Sarabi said gently, Mufasa nuzzled Sarafina too, "Simba." Mufasa said, the young cub jumped he had been so worried about Sarafina that he had forgotten his parents were with him. "Yes dad?" Simba asked, "go to Rafiki tell him, I would like hime to look after you for a bit." Mufasa said. Simba nodded and ran to find the wise baboon. "Sarafina it will get sorted." Mufasa said gently. Sarafina nodded and turned to face the entrance, "somewere out there my daughter is calling for me." Sarafina said. Mufasa exchanged a sad look with Sarabi then turned to warn his pride.
Nala opened her eyes, she was in a strange new place, it was a dark and damp room and she was all alone. "Mum." She cried, Nala let out a whimper of fear then curled up in a ball to keep warm.
Just then the door slammed open and a young man walked in with food and water. "Likkle cub all alone no-one to love you, no-one to care." The man mocked, Nala's eyes filled with tears. "Mum where are you." She whispered, the man crouched down, "now little cub, you eat up and grow strong, and then we may skin you...or just keep you as a slave." He said viciously. Nala gasped and backed as far away as possible. "MUM, ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!!" She shouted tears pouring down her eyes.
Meanwhile Mufasa was thinking of a plot to save Nala and return safely, "Mufasa, why don't this entire pride go and work together. I mean it's going to be a dangerous journey." Sarabi said, Mufasa nodded, "Sunrise tomorrow we will set off to find Nala, all lions meet me here tomorrow at sunrise." With that he let out a roar of victory and turned around to face the mouth of the cave.
"Sarafina rest here tonight." Sarabi said, Sarafina looked at Mufasa and he nodded, "ok,, thanks." Sarafina said. As the sun set Sarafina went and curled up in the corner to rest. "Come sleep with us Sarafina." Mufasa said, Sarafina looked around nervously then followed Sarabi to where she and Mufasa usually sleep. "Hang on Nala we will come for you soon." Sarafina murmmered
Nala curled up on the scratchy hay and tried to sleep. "Mum please. Please find me." Nala begged quietly. Nala then began to cry so she cried herself to sleep.
