Shyra was lying in a field of tall grass, a cool breeze lapping over the feild. She sighed out of contentment. She had just had her first littler of two pups five weeks ago.
They ran through the shorter grass playing the games little hyenas played, tripping over rocks in the prosses.
Shyra relaxed a little when her cubs fell asleep. and decided to lay her head down as well.
Her eyes closed and she felt more at ease than ever, until she heard a shreek that made her hair stand on end. Her eyes shot open and before she could even tell what was going on, she was bolting down in the direction of the scream.
Shyra felt her heart sink with every step she made. She knew something was wrong. Her heart raced with her as she bouded accros the plain. Shyra felt a knot form in her throat when she saw a group of rouge lions with grizzly fur standing over what was once her cubs.
Each of the lions gave out a cackle as they ran back to their teritory with her cubs in their mouths.
The air seemed to grow thicker and the land bacame foggy. Shyra began to cry. With her knees too weak to hold herself up she colapsed letting the tears flow easier down her face.
Not once in her life had she felt so lost, so shattered.
She closed her eyes once more, trying to convince herself that it was all a dream she was having, that her cubs were still alive and that it had happened all too fast for them to be really dead.
She sighed.
Only a few seconds later, she heared a cry comming from the patch of grass near-by. Shyra causiously looked into the grass to find a baby lion curled in a ball, crying for it's mother.
Shyra, being the leader of the hyena pack, knew the territories and all of the clans close by. She would have known him or his parents if he belonged to any of the clans or prides.
She closed her eyes and let a tear role down her cheek once more. "you don't have parent's do you?"
Shyra picked him up and took him to the clearing and sat down.
"I think I will call you... Bane"
And she knew very well that if she was caught, it was likely that she, and Bane, would be killed.
