Author's Note: I'd like to tell you a story that happen to me, i hope you enjoy this as much as i enjoyed writing it and
sharing my life story with you.
It all started in the north of africa, The Serengetti the most beautiful place in MY world. We lived just across the plains,
of wilderbeast near the river, We lived amougst the ferns and large solid boulders, it was wonderful there i used to
lay by the river bank and watch the sun beam on the ripperling surface of the water, my mother used to tell me stories that
inspered me..But one day after she had given birth to my baby brother Dasher, she went hunting and didn't come
back, My father just told me to get over it and that she would never come back, So i felt lonely and sad for a few
months, but my brother always used to cheer me up but boy was he the annoyingist thing i'd ever seen! But a few years
after that my father had passed and my brother had been attacked and badly wounded when i tried to get us
something to eat, I was abanoned and alone.
I knew i was different from the other big cats and like my mother always used to say, When i complained about being
different, She would say: "Kumal? Have you ever seen a shooting star? Its the most beautiful thing there ever was (I
didn't believe that) it lights up the whole sky! And you are that shooting star, You're not a regular star, You're beautiful
the way you are." It would ALWAYS cheer me up, The other cats used to pick on me for my looks, Yes i was unsual.
My pelt was an orangey tan colour with black line starting for my maw ending near the end of my tail but near my
shoulder the stripes would start i only had six, three on each side of my body and i had cheetah spots on my rump and
left leg, I also had something that would dangle from my neck with a silver locket on the end, This was very important
to me, Because my mother gave it to me before she had my brother and before she had disserpeared.
Kumal was hiding in the shrubs away from the aproaching buffalo, all you could hear was the snorts and grunts of
the buffalo and livestock in the background but the only thing that Kumal could feel was the tingle in her toes and
her heart trying to break through her chest. Until suddenly.....SLASH! Kumal was hit across the chest with a buffalo's
horn the animals horn was like a razor, Kumal bounded away from the buffalo's sharp tool until SMACK! Kumal ran
into someting tall and soft, But she rolled backward and hit the ground with a low thud. "Hello little one." a soft voice
called, Kumal's vision was blurry but it soon went back to focus. "Sorry miss!" She said backing away. "Hey..Hey..Hey.." The
soft voice anwsered. "Its okay little one, Where's you're mother?" She asked, Kumal looked up seeing a creamy brown
lioness with a dark brown mask and brown bullet like holes underneath her eyes. "See's dead.." Kumal whimpered.
"Whats you're name?" She asked and the brown lioness lowered her torso to the hard ground. "My name is Cassie
small one." She said and Kumal beamed. "I have no where to go." She pleaded and rubbed her head against
Cassie's leg, purring loudly. "Both of my family are dead." Kumal lowered her head and Cassie flattened her ears.
"Aww..I'm so sorry to here that little one..I'll take care of you." She smiled. "..If you don't mind me asking what breed
of cat are you?" Kumal blushed but felt ashamed aswell. "I'm a Ligertah...My mother was a lioness and my Father was
part tiger and part cheetah.." She sighed and Cassie picked her up by the scruff and trotted off.
Cassie had been walking hours, She placed Kumal on the ground and panted alittle, Kumal tilted her head slightly.
"Cassie are you okay?" She asked, Cassie looked down at the small cub and smiled softly. "I'm fine honey." She said in
that wonderful smooth tone. "Okay i was just checking." Kumal grinned and looked around. "Are we nearly there?" She
moaned, looking back at the much larger cat. "Yes Kumal...We are home." Cassie nudged her through some ferns Kumal
couldn't believe her eyes! Cassie's territory was beautiful, there was a small water hole surrounded by tree's and fresh green
grass, and beside it was a rocky ledge with some lioness' basking in the sun with there small cubs. "Thats Kiba and Sam
over there." Cassie said. "There the males of the pride." Kumal looked up at Cassie. "Wow...Oh..There coming toward us!"
Kumal panicked as they stalked near.
"Who's tis' then?" A large tan lion asked Cassie, He was huge! And had a great fluffy crimson mane. "This is Kumal, Kiba
i found her alone in the savannah." Cassie spoke slow and softly. "She's one of us now.." She continued but was soon
inturpted by a large white lion with ice blue eyes and a black mane. "Who said!?" He snapped and Kumal backed away
starring at the white male's left eye, Could he possibly be blind? Ice blue eyes and scars across them? Who knows. "What
are YOU looking at you little whipper snapper." He snarled, his hackles bristled. "Now now Sam." Kiba said calmly, Sneeking
a nuzzle in to calm him. "This little one has no home and will surely die." Kiba snorted and Cassie watched carefully. "She
can stay...But once she has found her feet....She leaves." Kiba said gravely and turned away walking back to his resting
pit, On the other hand Sam just gave an evil smirk soon following Kiba quickly.
Cassie looked down at Kumal. "Just ignore Sam, Kumal he's always been a moody git." Kumal laughed at Cassie's
comment. "Now go and explore, there's loads of cubs you're age around here." Cassie smiled and stalked of leaving
Kumal alone.
First Kumal padded down to the waterhole where some young cubs where playing. "Hey guys!" Kumal yelled, wagging
her long tail. "Who are you?" Asked one of the cubs, He was tan and looked simalar to Cassie he had red bullet like
holes under his eyes and a red tuft of hair on this head and a creamy chest and underbelly. "M...My name's Kumal,
whats your's?" She asked looking at the red tufted lion. "Kumal?" He arched a brow. "Thats a pretty cool name! Mine's
Peaches!" He tried not the laugh. "Peaches?" Kumal sat there confused, Peaches? A males name? What kind of name
is that anyway? "Not really!" He said rolling on the ground laughing and the others joining him. "The name's Lax." He
smiled. "Pronuced like Wax." He chuckled and Kumal smiled. "Well 'Kumal' welcome to the pride..." Lax paused.
"You are new...Aren't ya?" Kumal nodded. "Yes i am." Lax laughed. "Oh thats good." He laughed more. "So who's
you're parents? And where are they?" He asked, Kumal fell silent. "Well?" Lax asked and the other cubs muttered.
"Lax.." A cub nipped his tail. "There gone.." Kumal finnaly perked up. "Oh...Honest i didn't know, I'm sorry." Lax
nuzzled her friendly.
Kumal smiled softly. "But Cassie took me in, She is really nice." Lax coughed. "What?! The creamy lioness with the brown
mask?" He asked his tail erect, Kumal nodded. "Thats my mother." Lax whined. "Can't we share her?" Kumal asked
flattening her ears to her head. "Hmm...No! Stay away." Lax hissed and trotted back to the other cubs. "Aww Lax
don't be so harsh!" One of the cubs snapped. "Shut your face!" He pushed the poor cub into the water hole and watched
Kumal walk away sadly.
Cassie was perched on a small rock. "Hey Kumal, meet anyone new?" She asked kindly. "Yeah." She huffed. "Your son
Lax.." Kumal awnsered in a grump and she fiddled with her locket. "Aww what did he say to upset you?" Cassie
frowned feeling angry with her son. "Nothing but he's really iggnaront." Kumal snorted angryily and Cassie let out a laugh
"Thats what you come like when you're being brought up by Kiba." She smiled and licked the back of Kumal's ears.
"Don't worry honey." Cassie groomed Kumal and she laughed. "Cassie?" Kumal asked and Cassie stopped grooming
for a moment. "Yes dear?" She stood silent. "Can i call you mom?" Cassie gleamed and kissed Kumal's head. "Yes.."
Kumal smiled and purred happily in Cassie's arms.
It became nightfall, the sky was warm and pink and the herbivores where basking and grunting happily, Lax had joined
all of the other lions on the rocks where they were sleeping and chatting. "Hi mom." Lax grumbled, rubbing his head
against Cassie's soft cheek. "Hello dear." She groomed him and her maw rinkled tasting the bitterness of the water and
mud combined. "What have you been doing? Have you gone through a hedge?" She said sarcasticly. "Mom.." Lax
grumbled. "Oh i have a bone to pick with you." Cassie smirked and Lax grinned innocently. "Why have you been
nasty to Kumal? Hmm?" Lax chuckled nervously. "I haven't!" He pleaded looking over at Kumal being groomed by one
of the lionesses. "I just don't want to share you." Lax gazed at his mother and Cassie didn't look too impressed. "Well if
you like it or not, you're gonna have to share me because Kumal is your new sister and i don't want her to feel unwelcome."
Lax huffed. "I bet dad isn't gonna be happy." A cub called to Lax. "Come on Lax lets play." Lax looked at Cassie with one
of those 'Can i go and play?' smiles. "Go on then." She smiled. "..And Lax, i don't care what dad thinks." Lax smiled. "I give
up with you mom." He nuzzled her lovingly then bounded off.
Kumal had finished being groomed and waddled back to Cassie. "Hi mom." She said giving her a lick on the nose. "How
are you setterling in?" Cassie asked. "I love it here." Kumal beamed. "Its so lovely." Cassie smiled. "Yes it-" There was a loud
roar. "...Is." Cassie looked around and the other lions looked startled. "Whats happening?" Kumal asked crawling into her
arms. "Oh no." Cassie stood and Kumal fell out of her paws. "Wanders." She said and watched as Kiba and Sam stood
ready to fight. "Stay here Kumal." Cassie said and padded of to find Lax, Kumal lowered herself hoping that her nightmare
of her mother disserpearing wouldn't return.
"Come on Sam." Kiba said. "Time to give them the ol' one two." Sam grinned evily. "Let go i'll take that one." He charged
at the closest male, Kumal watched and then Kiba attacked the other male, Snarling and clawing at eachother, Sam
wasn't fighting though he was talking to the male! Kumal was surspicious. "I need to tell mom!" She shouted and bounded
of the find Cassie but was suddenly pinned. "Shh!" It was Lax that had her pinned. "Keep quiet they'll kill us if they find us."
Cassie was looking around, She looked worried, and Kumal bounded out of Lax's grasp. "Mom!" She yelled and snuggled
close to Cassie. "Have you seen Lax? I can't find him anywhere." Kumal calmed her. "Don't worry he's over there by the
other lioness'." Cassie sighed in relief. "Thank god for that." She watched Kiba fight for his pride then her ear was tugged.
"Mom i have to tell you something really important!!" Kumal jumped around and Cassie sighed and shook her head.
"What? What's so important?" Kumal nibbled her paws. "You know those wanders? Sam wasn't fighting them! He was
talking to them!!" Cassie snorted. "Kumal don't be silly." Kumal was shocked to her the cat who was so kind to her dis-
agree. "What? I'm not lying! I swear he was!" Cassie growled lowly. "Nonscense!" Kumal sighed and lied down sadly,
and Lax joined them. "Whats wrong Kumal?" He asked, Kumal didn't say nothing. "Suit yourself." He said and started
playing with his mother's tail.
Finally the fight was over, Kiba and Sam had won, even though Sam did stuff all. "Kumal? Are you okay." Cassie asked.
"I'm fine." Kumal sighed and got up walking down to the waterhole, Lax looked at his mother and shrugged. "Hmm."
Cassie pinned her ears but curled up to go to sleep, leaving Kumal alone for awhile. "This sucks." Kumal said holding her
locket in her paw, Studying it. "I'll be back by morning, they won't know i've been gone." Kumal lept into the water
and swam to the other side, and looked over at the wilderbeast and zebra and all the other animals. "I gotta go on an
adventure." She inhaled smiling. "My mother might even still be alive!" She bounded of into the savannah, It was dark..
Very dark. "Maybe i should go back..." She said to herself and there was a loud grunt from behind her. "Uh oh." She
whimpered hoping it not to be a buffalo, Kumal closed her eyes and turned around opening one and..."HI!!! MY NAME'S
JED!! WHATS YOUR'S?!" A young voice yelled, making all the wilderbeast scatter. "What the hell!!" Kumal fainted in shock.
"Opps..Did i kill her?" The young 'Jed' looked into Kumal's closed eyes and then she woke. "AHHHH!!!" She screamed, Jed
stood silent then.."AHHH!!!" He screamed too. "What on earth are you?" Kumal asked standing back. "Me name's Jed!" He
said. "Yes i gathered that." She said rolling her eyes. "I'm a cheeta'." The small cub sat down. "Oh..a cheetah are you.." She
smiled a little. "Well Jed it was nice meeting you, but i must get going." Kumal zoomed off and left Jed standing there
confused. "Cya.." He whispered.
Kumal arrived home, but she ran into Sam. "Hello.." He said in a evil, crackerly voice. "What are YOU doing out her all ALONE?"
Sam circled Kumal. "None of your beeswax!" She yelled. "I saw that fight earlier! You wasn't fighting you was there friend!"
Sam snarled and went to hit Kumal with his large white paw until he came to a halt. "Enough!" Shouted Cassie and she
took Kumal and climbed onto the rocks where Lax and the others where sleeping. Sam padded of into the darkness he
growled and laughed evily like he had plotted something. "Where have you been?" Cassie asked grooming Kumal's fur.
"Uh...D..Down by the waterhole." She smiled nervously. "Really?" Kumal nodded. "I met a cheetah called Jed there too!"
Kumal said trying to sound calm. "A cheetah? They only live on the plains." Cassie sighed. "You've been on the savannah
haven't you?" Kumal giggled knowing she had be found out. "Sorry mom." Cassie shook her head. "Its dangerous out
there, NEVER go out there at night..EVER do you understand me?" Kumal nodded and felt ashamed. "Yes mom." Cassie
smiled. "Come on its late you need some sleep." She picked Kumal up and set her down by Lax and watched happily as
Kumal snuggled up with Lax. "Kids." She chuckled and lied beside them, wrapping her long tail around there warm
bodies, like a dragon protecting her precious eggs.
Kumal.
