"Nice catch!" Yowled Rosefur. Sourstorm had just caught one of the biggest mice of the Moon. "Thanks." Sourstorm was muffled off by the tremendous mouse. "I don't think I've ever caught one that big." Chuckled Wolfheart. "Come on, we'll take it back to camp. That mouse'll feed two kits!"
"Yes, she caught it all her own!" Purred Wolfheart to Shadowstar. "And on the second day after her Warrior Ceremony." She added. "It is a fine catch." He chuckled. "But she isn't ready for an Apprentice. She is blind, keep in mind. I'm not going to assign Rosefur one anytime soon either." Wolfheart could understand. Not every cat, like she was, was assigned an Apprentice so soon after their Warrior Ceremony. "Where's Hazelheart?" Asked Wolfheart. "Out hunting with Ravenpaw." Responded Shadowstar. Typical. She thought. Either she's is giving a really long welcoming to him, or she has something in mind...
Wolfheart padded across the clearing, where she found Darkkit, Pebblekit and Redkit playfighting. I wonder where the other one is. She thought.
Hazelheart entered the ThunderClan camp, with Ravenpaw by her side. "Hey, Wolfheart!" She called. "Want to eat with us?" Wolfheart knew before she even thought what her answer would be. "Sure!" She purred.
The three ate their meal in a few gulps. Wolfheart's belly was hallow with hunger, she hadn't eaten yet that day. "I hear Soundstep found himself a mate." Purred Hazelheart. "Yep. I would've never expected that Rosefur had any kind of feelings for him." Chuckled Wolfheart. "I know." Purred Hazelheart. "I also heard that Sourstorm fed almost a whole Nursery with a mouse today!" Gleamed Hazelheart. "Yes." Meowed Wolfheart. "Biggest mouse I have ever seen." Barley padded over to Ravenpaw. "Hello Barley." He purred. "Need anything?" He asked. "Save me any food?" Asked Barley, with a hint of amusment in his eye. Ravenpaw chuckled. "Sure."
"Come on." Meowed Hazelheart. "Those two can have some time to share tounges. Lets go down to Sunningrocks."
When the two cats arrived, Sunningrocks was just as wonderful as always. The warm, smooth rock just begging to be layed upon. "Why did you bring me here?" Asked Wolfheart. "I had some news." Shrugged Hazelheart. "Ravenpaw has asked me to be his mate." Wolfheart may have expected this, she didn't know. "And....You said "Yes"?" She asked. "Of course, mouse-brain!" Purred Hazelheart. Wolfheart was distracted by a movement in the bushes. "What was that?" Whispered Hazelheart. "I don't know, lets watch."
A light, tan colored head with a white muzzle poked out of the bushes. "It's a cat!" Hissed Hazelheart silently. The rest of her body slid out. Wolfheart could now get a better description. A plain, cream-colored cat, with white paws, muzzle, tail, ears, and underbelly. "Should we chase her?" Asked Hazelheart. "No, lets see what she's doing first."
The cat sniffed the ground, twitched her ears, and got into the hunters crouch. "Hunting!" Hissed Wolfheart. She lurched from the rock, folowed by Hazelheart. The startled cat's eyes widened. "Why are you hunting on ThunderClan territory?" Hissed Hazelheart. "I was...hungry?" Meowed the cat nervously. "Oh, whatever!" Hissed Wolfheart.
"Now, hey hey..." Hushed Hazelheart. "Just what exactly is your name, stranger?" She asked. "Emily." Muttered the strange cat. "What a very kind aproach..." She said enthusiastically.
Hazelheart and Wolfheart exchanged glances. "Come with us." Meowed Wolfheart. "Why?" Hissed Emily. "Come with us." Repeated Wolfheart in a stern, threatining voice.
Emily must have gotten the point. She followed the two cats back through the forest and into the ThunderClan camp.
"Who is this?" Asked Shadowstar. "A Rouge we found hunting in ThunderClan terriotry. We brought her here as a prisoner." Meowed Hazelheart. "Who said anything about being a prisoner?!" Asked Emily, startled. "Hush." Meowed Shadowstar sternly. "Take her to the old stump, where we usually keep cats like this one. I will get...Echobreeze to watch her."
Wolfheart and Hazelheart led Emily to the old stump, soon to meet Echobreeze. "Don't worry, I will keep an eye on her..." She meowed as Hazelheart and Wolfheart left.
"It is almost Moonhigh. We have a gathering tonight, right?" Asked Wolfheart. "Yes." Responded Hazelheart. "I think Shadowstar and Soundstep are assignig them now."
Hazelheart and Wolfheart had both been chosen to make the journey to Fourtrees, along with Sourstorm, Rosefur, Willowpelt, Sandstorm and, of course, Shadowstar and Soundstep.
Once attending, Shadowstar jumped up onto the Highrock with the other leaders. His second Gathering. He shouldn't be as nervous this time... Thought Wolfheart.
ShadowClan went first. They had a new kit, but the other one had died of Whitecough. It is about time for that...And greencough... Remembered Wolfheart.
WindClan had an elder die, Bearclaw.
RiverClan told of how their fish were going scarce again. (Not big news. What's the point of telling it?)
And, finally, Shadowstar told of how ThunderClan had a prisoner. "She was roaming around the river, near your territory, Leopardstar. Had you smelled an odd scent of cat around there?" He asked. "Yes, my Dawn patrol reported it yesterday. Is that about the time your warrior captured her?" She asked. "Yes." Responded Shadowstar.
The meeting let out.
On the way back to the ThunderClan camp, something strange happened...
The was a rustle in the bushes, just as the cats entered ThunderClan territory. "Hush!" Ordered Shadowstar. All cats stopped and shut their mouthes.
A beaten and scratched flame-pelted cat crawled out of the bushes.
"Firestar!" Shreiked Sandstorm. She ran to her mate's side.
The cats helped Firestar back to the camp. He was still too shaken to speak barley. Something had plainly happened to the cat.
"Shadowstar." Meowed Wolfheart silently. "I had a dream that this would happen..."
"A dream?" Asked Shadowstar wide-eyed. "Did it tell you what I am supposed to do now?"
Wolfheart just thought of a simple explanation. "Go to the Moonstone with Firestar once he recovers. You will know what to do."
Two days had past, and Firestar was able to tell the cats that he had had an encounter with rats.
"Are you well enough to travel to Highstones yet, Firestar?" Asked Ripplepool. "Yes." He sighed. "Though I'm not looking forward to it. Lets go now, Shadow...star..." The way he spoke showed he was not used at all to calling his former deputy Shadowstar.
"Goodbye, beloved." Purred Wolfheart, rubbing up on him before he exited the camp. "I'll be back tommorrow around Moonhigh." He assured Wolfheart.
Firestar and Shadowstar left the ThunderClan camp.
