1. Mourning in a New World.
This story takes place mostly in a land filled with Dragons and ruled by an evil Dragowolf and well, for the rest you'll just have to read to find out.
A regular pack of wolves went out hunting one morning. The Alpha, named Katie, was mostly white with shades of gray and some black on her face, Her front legs were all tan and the back paws were tan. The tip of her tail was tan, with a gray underbelly is what Katie looked like. She jumped up onto a rock that would give everyone a good view of her as she said, "Alright wolves listen up!" everyone turned and looked at Katie, "We need to do some hunting and all of you are going to go alone. If you find anything unusual or manage to catch something let out the Howl of Victory! Now MOVE OUT!" shouted Katie.
Every one started telling each other in which direction they were going and soon the were off. Katie jumped off of the rock and sniffed the air. The smell of an intruder pack filled her nose. 'Oh no not the Big Pack!' thought Katie. As Katie began to run into the forest and find everyone the Howl of Victory broke out toward the east. Katie howled to gather all the others at the wolf who howled the Howl of Victory. The whole wolf pack arrived in less than two minutes and Katie stepped forward to see what her pack had found.
"Katie I've found this oddly shaped stone that looks like a door." said the wolf. He the stepped aside for Katie to see.
Katie began to sniff it and examine it when the Howl of War broke out across the horizon. "This is bad! The Big Pack is trying to take over our territory and eight wolves against thirty isn't gonna end well!" exclaimed Katie, "Come on lets move!" and she accidentally ran through the stone door with half of her pack behind her. The four wolves that went through the stone door had disappeared and the other four who stayed decided to just join the Big Pack.
"Guys no one wants to die so lets just ask to join them." suggested one wolf. The others nodded in approval after seeing what happened to the others. The Howl of War broke out again and this time it was very close. The four wolves swallowed hard hoping that they wouldn't die and would be allowed to join the big pack. The four wolves huddled together and began to look around in all directions. Every minute that passed seemed like an hour when you knew you life was hanging by a thread. A light mist had set over the land as the minutes ticked on.
Suddenly a large brown wolf with tan markings jumped out of the mist and in front of the four wolves. The rest of his pack followed closely behind and they surrounded the four remaining wolves. "Where is the rest of you pack, especially your Alpha?!" asked the Big Pack Alpha with a bark.
One wolf answered, "She left with half our pack, but we stayed and were hoping that we would join your pack to make it bigger and stronger, and also to help you conquer the rest of the land." The Alpha of the Big Pack started to circle the four wolves shaking his head and snarling at them. He then turned around and started walking away. The four wolves let out a sigh of relief, but the Alpha of the Big Pack turned back around and lunged at the wolves. The rest of his pack followed and...well, I'll just say there was blood involved. After that little happening the Big Pack took over Kati's territory and began to conquer the rest of the land.
Now back to Katie and half her pack... As they entered the stone like door thing the found themselves in an entirely different place. Katie turned around, but there was no way back home (I don't think it would be could to go back anyway). "Pack," said Katie as she turned back around, "Listen up!...Uh...where is the other half of my pack?"
A black wolf with red patches over his eyes, a red tail, and red stripe starting at the top of his head to his shoulders, whose name was DarkDragon said, "I think there still back home." Katie's head dropped, for she knew that the Big Pack would never let anyone survive their conquest for land. Katie the howled the Howl of Mourning for four beloved wolves were lost to the Big Pack, never to be seen again. What was left of the pack stayed at that spot for half an hour mourning for the lost of their friends.
Katie turned around and a tear slipped from her eye and rolled down her cheek. As she began to walk away, tail between her legs, a tan wolf with lighter tan and dark red markings, whose name was CreamSoda stepped forward and gathered the rest of the pack, and began to follow Katie.
CreamSoda ran up to Katie and asked, "What are we going to do Alpha?"
Katie sighed and answered, "First we have to find out where we are, then I'll figure out what to do." CreamSoda nodded and walked back into his rank position. They walked for hours and didn't see any sign of life, except for the occasional chirp of a small bird.
The day turned into night in what seemed a matter of minutes. Katie picked a nice place to rest for night in a forest under a bunch of trees that would shelter them if it began to rain. Everyone went to bed hungry and sad that night for they lost valuable members of the pack. Katie silently drifted off into a deep sleep only to find herself trapped in a place that only the strong can escape.
2. The Wolf of Light.
Katie finds herself in a dangerous world the deeper she goes into sleep. A low growling sound is heard in the distance and Katie looks around confused. "Where am I?" said Katie to herself. The growling suddenly stopped and all was quiet. The scariest sound ever to be heard is the sound of nothing. Not even the sound of paws hitting the hard ground was heard, or the sound of breathing. Every sound seemed to have been muted in that place since Katie spoke. Suddenly a flash of black ran in front of Katie. It was so fast you couldn't tell what it was. Katie swallowed hard hoping that it was nothing serious or deadly.
Katie continued to walk in the strange world when another flash of black appeared, followed by a strong gust of wind that nearly knocked Katie onto the ground. The wind continued to blast Katie, but she stood firm. Her claws dug into the ground as she began to be blown back words. A faint howl is heard on the wind and it grew louder and louder when the wind finally died down. A heavy fog suddenly fell over that world. You could hardly see anything, or even tell where you were going. Out of the mist stepped forth a black wolf, with bright blue eyes. He stared at Katie for what seemed hours, and eventually walked away.
Katie sighed with relief as the black wolf disappeared into the fog, but was shocked when he turned around and pinned Katie to the ground. With teeth showing and eyes glowing, the wolf bit Katie on the neck and tore some fur off. The pain was to much and Katie yelled in pain. The black wolf seemed to laugh as she did so. He then bit Katie on the neck again and this time he didn't let go. Blood dripped from Katie's neck the more he tightened his grip. Katie tried to scream for help, but couldn't. The black wolf was trying to kill Katie, and for what reason we'll never know. Just when Katie though all hope was lost, a golden light came over them. The light was so bright that both the wolf and Katie had to close their eyes and look away.
Out of that bright light stepped forth another wolf, who's fur seemed to shine like gold. The golden wolf ran at the black wolf and knocked him off Katie. When the black wolf saw who had done this to him he growled, "Shorna stay out of this! She's rightfully mine!"
The golden wolf stood tall and said, with a firm voice, "No, Forgon she is not. This wolf did nothing to hurt you and did nothing against anyone here in Galdor. Stay out of her head and leave before I destroy you for good." The black wolf barked and growled at the golden wolf, but eventually ran off. Katie was watching in amazement at what she just witnessed. The golden wolf then turned toward Katie and healed her wounds with is breath.
"Who are you?" asked Katie when her wounds were healed.\
The golden wolf looked deep into Katie's eyes and answered, "My name is Shorna protector of the world you have now entered. That wolf you just encountered was Forgon sworn enemy of the Wolfagons. Leader of the Empire for now. I need you to take this young warrior." and he handed Katie something that looked exactly like a glow-stick.
Katie looked at it then back at Shorna and said, " A glow-stick. What am I supposed to do with a glow-stick?"
Shorna put it around Katie's neck and said, "This will prove your innocence through the world of Galdor. As long as you see it glowing everyone will know that you have done nothing wrong here in this world. Be safe young warrior." And with that Shorna turned around and began to walk away.
Before Shorna got out of sight, Katie asked, "What are you?"
Shorna turned around and said, "I'm am the Wolf of Light." He the howled a very strong howl and a bright light blasted over that world, and Shorna disappeared into the light.
3. The World of Galdor
Katie finally wakes up to the sound of a snapping twig. DarkDragon came out of the woods with four rabbits in his mouth. He dropped the biggest one in front of Katie, and Katie thanked him for it. He then gave the others away and laid back down for his long nap. "Hey Alpha, " asked a gray she-wolf with darker gray, lighter gray, and white markings, whose name was Tank, "Where did you get that glow-stick?" Katie was about to answer, but a small faint voice told her not to say anything that happened that night and she listened to it.
"Alright everybody wake up and lets get moving!" said Katie as she woke everybody up and made them all move out in a matter of minutes. The sun slowly rose into the sky as the four wolves marched on. The four wolves walked into the forest until they came across a wide river. It was too big and too fast, strong, and deep to swim across.
Tank looked at the river and said, "Well, there's no way we are getting across." The others laughed at the sarcasm in her voice. Katie looked around and decided to send a hunting party out.
"DarkDragon and CreamSoda you will be going hunting for a deer or something large to eat." said Katie, "Tank you will stay here with me and we will look for a decent place to stay and make some nests out of moss and other soft material when we find that place." DarkDragon and CreamSoda nodded and ran into the forest, while Katie and Tank started to look for a place to stay.
As the sun reached its highest point in the sky Katie shouted to Tank that she found a good place to stay by the river. Tank rushed over with a mouthful of moss and grass to make some nests with. Katie nodded her head and Tank set the stuff down and went back to get more.
The sun was now setting and and Katie was resting by Tank on her left side and the river on her right side. Everything was quiet. Even the roar of the river seemed to be muzzled and all was at peace. Suddenly a howl rose on the wind and DarkDragon emerged from some bushes with CreamSoda and a dead deer with following close by. CreamSoda was having a hard time dragging the deer and Tank rushed to help him. When the deer was in a small clearing and everything was at rest. Katie announced that it was time to eat and the four wolves dug into the deer meat.
As the sun slid behind the mountain tops and the four wolves each ate their fill they decided to turn in for the night. Katie yawned and walked over to one of the piles of moss and grass. She settled down in to it and curled up into a ball. The other three followed her lead and did the same. The at night in Katie's dream Shorna came to her again. "Hello Katie I must talk to you." said Shorna
Katie trotted over and asked, "What is it?" Shorna turned around and grabbed a green, blue, and purple glow-stick.
"These," he began, "are for the rest of your pack. Like yours they will prove their innocence in this world and remember do not kill another animal without cause. If you do the sticks will stop glowing and you will be as a wanted human for doing crime. In this world we only do what what's right. Now I need you to take your pack unto a fallen maple tree by the river. There I will personally meet you and give you and your pack a tour of this world known as Galdor. Don't be late." After he said that Shorna disappeared and Katie was left alone.
A loud howl woke Katie and she woke up ready and alert for any trouble. "Alpha, Tank has fallen into the river and she is trying hard to get back, but the current is too strong." Katie's eyes widened and she ran to where Tank had fallen in. Without thinking her instincts made her jump in after Tank.
"Help!" cried Tank and she was pulled under. Katie swam over and dived down into the water. CreamSoda and DarkDragon held their breath as a few moments went bye without seeing either of their pack mates. A head popped out of the water. It was Katie and in her jaws was Tank. Katie tried to stay calm while swimming back to shore and CreamSoda ran to help her. He waded into the water and grabbed Katie by the scruff of her neck and dragged her onto shore. Tank spat out mouthfuls of water and whispered to Katie, "Thank you...." Katie smiled and nodded she then thanked CreamSoda for helping her and DarkDragon began to help Tank back to her nest.
As everyone settled down Katie asked, "What happened!?"
Tank shivered and answered, "Early this morning before the sun was evening rising I smelt something strange. A black wolf came out of the shadows and tried to attack you. I knew I had to stop him so I ran in his way and he tackled me. With fur flying, claws and teeth flashing around we fought ferociously for hours. When the sun finally started to come up the wolf ran to the river I followed and when I got there the black wolf jumped straight over the river. I couldn't believe what I saw, but when he landed on the other side he looked back. On his face was a small smile and he motioned for someone to follow him. At first I wanted to go wake you then the ground started to tremble, and that's when it hit me. That wolf was no ordinary wolf it had special powers. The rocks then tumbled out from under me and I plunged into the water. I realized that he motioned the rocks fall and not for me to follow, and then you came and rescued me."
Katie nodded with a stern face, but her eyes showed how shocked and surprised she was. The story Tank told left her deep in her thoughts. 'Was this black wolf Forgon the wolf of darkness?' A loud voice jerked Katie away from her thoughts. "Huh, wha...." said Katie and she looked around.
CreamSoda asked, "Why do you have three glow-sticks in your nest Alpha?"
Katie remembered what Shorna told her and she let the secret out. DarkDragon's mouth was wide open and along with the others they stared in amazement. "So we all get one of those glow-stick things to prove our innocence in this world." said CreamSoda. Katie nodded and handed each one a glow-stick. DarkDragon got the green one, CreamSoda was given the blue, and Tank had gotten the purple one. Once they were on the wolves they glowed as bright as ever and everyone stared at them amazement.
"It's true." mumbled DarkDragon. Katie looked at the sky and realized it was almost noon, so she gathered the pack for a meeting.
"Now you all no we are now in a strange world and Shorna, the wolf of light, told me to meet under a fallen maple tree by this river. We will go find it and when we meet Shorna he will give us a tour of this land known as Galdor." announced Katie. The others howled in agreement and off they went to search for the fallen tree. Katie walked along the edge of the river hoping soon they would find Shorna and begin this tour.
DarkDragon, who was a few yards away from Katie, called out, "I've found Shorna. He's over here!" The others ran up to him and before they got too close Shorna stopped them.
"Now," he began, "before I take you on the tour I must warn you of a danger in this world." The others looked at each other nervously, when Shorna breathed on all of them and they began to float.
"What is this!" cried Tank in horror.
Shorna replied, "Don't worry this is the easiest way to give a tour. Wherever I go you will follow without having to waste any energy. Now come." Shorna then flew over the river and said, "This river is known here as the Destroyer only one out of every one thousand wolves make it out alive." Everybody turned around and stared at Tank, but soon they were flying through the air again.
"This wind feels so good!" exclaimed Katie. CreamSoda was playing with the clouds as they soared through the air, but was shocked to find out that they were made of water and he left them alone after that.
Shorna dived through the clouds and over a huge forest. He then spoke, "This is the forest of Tyrinn. It covers most of Galdor and holds secrets never uncovered in Galdor. Do you see the mountains over there?", and he pointed with his nose. The others nodded and he continued, "That is were you'll begin your training with me."
"When and...." said DarkDragon, but was silenced by a cold stare from Shorna.
Shorna growled, "No questions asked until the end." He then flew over a large plain that had no cover at all except the grass. "Now," he began, "this is the Plain of Sorrow. If you go in you are sure to find something to be sorrowful for. I suggest you don't go in." Every laughed at the hint of laughter in Shorna's voice at his last phrase.
Shorna then flew back to the river and and set the wolves down. "That is all in the tour, but remember to make it to those mountains and I will be waiting for you to begin your training. Is there any questions?"
Tank asked, "Why can't you just fly us over there and begin our training now?"
Shorna answered, "Because you must journey there yourself to see if you can survive in this world. This is the last you'll see me until the training begins. Goodbye." Shorna then disappeared with a flash of light and was gone without a trace.
"Alright, we'll rest here again for the night and tomorrow we'll begin making our way to those mountains!" announced Katie. The others howled and barked in agreement and they walked back to their camp to rest for the night.
